So let me get this right? There are people who will not “see it in theaters” or won’t at all, come to a thread about the movie, then talk shit about it...but are joe fans? I never get this mentality. At least support it, give it a strong showing so we can get more toys, and if it’s bad, it’s bad, so be it. We get a(nother) joe movie.
Would you hate your significant other if they got a drastic haircut and dyed it another color? (Sort of) the same thing. No, take them out on a date, make them feel good about it...then give the opinion... |

It's also worth remembering that GI Joe's peak popularity was during periods where it had a cartoon. And NEITHER of the 80s/90s cartoons had Snake Eyes in any sort of significant role. As is, both ninjas could have been excised from Rise of Cobra without losing a thing from the overall story. GI Joe has been firmly stuck in the shadow of ARAH for decades. Transformers garnered some of its greatest critical and financial successes when it it was finally willing to let go of its past and reinvent itself and characters. GI Joe has been LONG past that point.

"The producers and Paramount toyed with multiple directions to keep the Joes going on the big screen, including a potential Retaliation sequel. Bonaventura says that could still be a reality one day as “there have been some scripts that are in development currently.”
I wonder if the potential "Retaliation Sequel" will use Henry Golding as Snake Eyes in the modern stories and Samara Weaving as Scarlett. Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson) said he trained with Snake Eyes for six years from Retaliation and the phrase "by 2016" was said during the meeting of the world leaders scene. I think there’s plenty of room for different interpretations, and I no longer have the will to constantly hate on everything. As long as it’s good, or even just cool, I can get over it not being “my Snake Eyes”

What about Golding doing the "acting" and Ray Park doing the fighting?

Or they could be redefining the character to make him more compelling to a wider audience. As compelling as that mystery can be, they don't have a guaranteed 2-3 films to build that. Hell, I'd even argue RoC was brought DOWN my the inclusion of the ninjas, and the half assed attempts to give them an origin story.
Critical??? Really? Transformers is an embarassment, to the point where the last movie had to distance itself completely from the Bayverse in order to "make" some money, and the whole target audience was downgraded to 5 years old. So much for "reinvention", as we have G1 and Beast Wars on shelves right now. Oh, there, that's a reinvention for you: Beast Wars! You can't have reinvention just for the sake of it, it has to be *better* - and it's really hard to make something better when the original stuff is that damn good.

What do you mean by that? Anyway, I hope that the film makes money.
