Eh, sounds fine I suppose. Seems a bit 'standard' medium budget Hollywood sounding. Nothing spectacular - but decent.

If I keep everything in its own little bubble/universe, it’ll be fine. Hopefully Zartan plays a part. I’d love to see a resolute inspired Zartan.

I listened to most of it. Doesn't sound half bad. I'll see the movie. The way I look at it, it's the origin of a whole new character.

Sounds worth giving a shot. I mean, how much worse can it be?

I dislike going away from the source material. The plot sounds almost exactly like the new Mortal Kombat film. I feel like you could take away their names, enter whatever name you’d like, and you would have any other film based on sword fights and martial arts.
What made Snake Eyes a popular character was his back story. GI from United States during Vietnam who becomes like a brother with his fellow soldiers, then leans on one of them when his whole family dies and forms a new family with said soldier only to have that ripped away too. The whole “seeks revenge for killing my Dad” was never who Snake Eyes was. His whole story was about service, moving on from tragedy, and learning how to live by establishing new familia relationships. Did he seek revenge for deeds done in the past? Sure, but it did not monopolize his life? This movie may be good. It may be awesome. But will it be a true origin story for Snake Eyes? Maybe for this one universe. But for those of us who have read the comics, it sounds like it will fall short of expectations. I’m not saying that’s the end all be all, but shouldn’t the movie origins reflect more of the actual origins of the character and not just what some writer thinks is cool but strays away from the source material? There are ways to twik a character and still keep the spirit of the story alive. To me, this does not. It sounds like typical Hollywood garbage! |

I too was full of such anger and hate at the announcement what has it been? Two years or so? But with time, I have made my peace with the new character. Is it what I want? No. Not by far. But as the song says: love the one you with.
