Not yet. The collector lines have gotten pretty far in advance on preorders these days.
The line should hit retailers en mass in August when stores do their big fall toy resets. Some locations or promotional efforts might hit closer to the film’s release in the last week or so of July. Keep in mind that the Night Creeper, Scarlett, and Red Ninja are apparently slated for “wave 2”, which won’t be available until later in the fall. I wouldn’t hold the “November 1st” date to mean anything other than “these won’t be available until several months after the first batch of figures”.

Wasn’t snake eyes suppose to be badly disfigured? This was something a lot of the movies never touch on. It is the reason why he wares a mask.

I don't think you need to have Snake-Eyes be disfigured. Maybe they just make him mute. He gets injured (maybe by Storm Shadow) and loses his ability to speak. This could increase his personal vendetta with Storm Shadow. Also not having the ability to speak could be just enough tragedy especially when dealing with Scarlett and their relationship. It also gives him a distance from other Joe members. So to feed off this distance, he wears a mask.
I think as soon as they cast an actor who is known for his looks, Snake-Eye was not going to be masked all the time. I imagine he'll pull off his mask here and there. I don't think it's a change that destroys the character. He's still a super-ninja commando. |

I'd be fine with a good re-interpretation of the story. |

So I am getting the impression based on what we've seen over the past two days that Hasbro might be going with the marketing strategy of NOT having any movie tie-in products, or any products at all on shelves or shipped out, when the movie hits theaters on July 23rd? It's a bold strategy. Let's see if it pays off for them.

If Hasbro had any strategy at all, they would have had Paramount sit on a November 11 release long before Sony moved Ghostbusters there.

That being said I think that the kids line will be on shelves at release, it is the classified collectors who will have to wait. But they are a captured market anyway... |
