Kickstarter itself said back in 2012, "It's hard to know how many people feel like they're shopping at a store when they're backing projects on Kickstarter, but we want to make sure that it's no one." If Hasbro is browsing crowdfunding sites to gauge retail interest, that's their fundamental misunderstanding and it shouldn't be encouraged.
The Nightwolf itself feels unnecessarily large (14.75″ bumper to bumper; 7.5″ wide). Even though it's being pushed by ZICA, I'm not sold on the Uru Toys half of the equation. Actually I'm not sold on the ZICA half, either. Their last campaign update on Sectaurs was just... needlessly disparaging... "Hopefully another company will be willing to give it a go with the property, possibly in the 6" scale which seems to be more popular these days." |

I just backed it cause I got my stimulus. I was hoping that was the cause for it not getting funded right away but I'm guessing not :(
I guess 1/18th only lives through figures now. |

The fact of the matter is that the success (or lack thereof) of a Kickstarter or third party toy is not going to have real bearing on what can be found at retail. If you watch any of the videos from Spector Creative on Youtube, you'll see that the collector market is definitely NOT the major driver for whether Wal-Mart signs off on a toy line. Frankly, the larger issue that joe fans should consider is that despite the folks in our community being able to get the AWE Strikers and Hiss Tanks that we want, the shelves in stores all over still seem to have large quantities of them...Which means that they are not selling to anyone outside of dedicated fans and collectors. That is the metric that the bean counters are going to look at when Hasbro tries to pitch a rerelease of the Skystriker, MOBAT, Cobra Rage etc.

Rant ahead. This project is at roughly 33% funded for what looks like a well put together vehicle that is at a price point fairly inline with POC Vamp secondary market prices. If, as a community we can't get 750 of these sold then what hope is there for 1/18 Gi Joe vehicles ever being sold by Hasbro? If I was doing market research for Hasbro, things like this would be in my report. I understand Hasbro can get to lower price points through volume and lower shipping, but we should be able to sell 750 of these, especially when they appear to be of a very high quality. We need to spread the word on this and get it funded.

There was a livestream tonight with the owner of Urutoys on joefan82. He said there is apparently a plan B and C if the Kickstarter ultimately doesn't get funded.

Not that I think it's a bad price per se, but I am seeing an alarming trend lately with the idea of "well this goes for this on ebay so it's a good deal." That should have nothing to do with a price point. There are figures that go for hundreds or thousands of dollars on the aftermarket because they're RARE and in high demand as part of a popular brand. It doesn't mean we should start seeing $50 retail action figures as the norm, and I feel companies are kinda starting to buy into this warped logic too, which is just a bit frightening and should not be encouraged.

Why would this item's success on Kickstarter be used as market data for the 18th retail market but the data for JazWares' Fortnite and HALO lines not be more indicative of what the retail market can handle?
The biggest issue here is simply the poor communication by the creators, imho. They dropped the project and kinda left it to survive or fail on it its own when we've seen that creator interaction in the advertising is 100% vital for a project to succeed. Another issue is that for an EAGLE FORCE vehicle they may want to try selling this once everyone has their EF figures and are enjoying them. |

I get the Nightwolf is modular and fairly big, but is it really double the price of the Vamp MK II big? Would getting rid of the suspension and wench maybe reduce the cost of production? Or is the cost really *just* based on aftermarket prices for the Vamp? That's not getting into how according to the Kickstarter including *all* the modular components is a 40 dollar value. Like, really? I can't see how all of those together are 40 dollars if the Nightwolf itself is 60. Yeah, they need to regroup and rethink the pricing structure. Wayward Goat collectibles marketed it as a collectible, but as far as I can tell this thing is marketed as a toy and 60 (100?) dollars is way too much.
