Maybe the finally realized what a screwed up mess se origins would be and shelved it kinda like what cornans f4 did. ( though ironically corms f4 was probably the best f4 film. )

Roger Corman's Fantastic Four movie was never actually intended to be released. The entire production was a scam thrown together in order to extend the licensing contract, which mandated that Corman must put something in front of a camera by a specified deadline. He made the bare minimal amount of effort possible to fulfill those terms, and no more. Never, at any point, did Corman plan to release it to the public. It was always going to be shelved, so that Corman could try again with a real production later. (But of course he never did.)

Hasbro and Paramount have spent $150+ million on the Snake Eyes movie and, prior to the pandemic, had it locked in with a planned theatrical release date. You may not like the scripting or casting decisions they've made, but it's a real movie and will eventually be released. Too many people have too much invested in it to simply file it away because a handful of fans are upset that the character isn't white in this version.

Snake eyes as a character is so iconic and this is one of those rare instances that what race/gender etc DOES actually matter to the character and his history. Plus golding was a piss poor choice for the role. Plenty of better asian actors out than him.

I don't have an opinion on the casting of Golding himself, as i've only seen him in Crazy Rich Asians, and he didn't need to do much in that. (The performances of the women were far more important.) But making Snake Eyes an Asian character isn't necessarily a problem for me. As long as he is a true outsider to the Arashikage clan, that's what matters. Make him a Japanese-American, who has never been to Japan before he gets entangled with Tommy and the Arashikage clan, and you can tell the story with him as both an outsider to the clan, but also someone they look down on even more because he is also ignorant of his heritage having lived in America all his life. Making the movie with SE as the generic white guy outsider could be done well, but it's also something Hollywood has done many times before.

Like I said, you may not like the decisions they've made, but this is not a throwaway project. It's a real movie and will eventually be released.

I can't wait. But I did enjoy the 1st 2 movies.
