Didn't Hasbro say they wouldn't do a dollar store line because it would cheapen the overall brand? That's why they stop the DG line?

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I really cant believe we are discussing these.

Oh boy, badly painted statues that are awkwardly positioned rather than in any sort of dynamic pose. Hard pass. I love G.I. Joe but this just feels insulting, even for 99 cents.

On a related note, I've been wondering something for a while ...
In 1988, Tonka made mini figurines based on the movie "Willow". Though I can only speak to what Queen Bavmorda and Sorsha (plus a couple creatures) are like. The queen looks quite nice, but is a statue, pure and simple. However, there are two versions of Sorsha. One connects to a metal stand, via little knobs on the bottoms of her feet. The other figure is firing a bow & arrow, while riding a cool horse. She can be removed from the saddle, but is too bow-legged (ironically) to stand on her own. Neither is a very good likeness of Joanne Whalley (who looked amazing in "Willow", btw). At any rate, did anyone here have these at the time (back in 1988)? And if so, did you like them? What was their purpose? Seems as if they would have limited playability/appeal for children? (Doesn't help that, best I can tell, the movie wasn't hugely popular.)

Disney+ is making a Willow series, so I would say that it definitely has some staying power.

Maybe this is the answer from Hasbro for all those cheap GI Joe collectors that wait to buy the figures on clearance... So there you have it guys, your dream just come true... Start army building them as you wanted. 😁✌️

I remember those figures! My best recollection was an overly simplistic explanation: Tonka was never (to my knowledge) in the figure business before or since, and just wasn't aware of what was needed to make figures kids and collectors enjoyed, so things we take for granted, like articulation, were laid by the wayside. (See also: the Galoob WCW figure line.)
Really starting to grow on me as well. (Plus I do quite like the movie.) I just wish Sorsha looked more like the actress (or at all, actually). Also, the non-equestrian version's sword seems way out of proportion.
