Hated the reveals.
Worst wave yet. Had such high hopes to finally get a decent RAH Duke. |

Honestly, I'm happy with this retro wave, and the last because I have no compulsion to buy them. I picked up 3 HISS Tank reissues, because hey they're nice Hiss tanks and I loved the driver style, but wish they would have done the 2 figure driver and gunner thing like they did with the Orange one years back. If I ever find an AWE Striker I might buy one as well, but that's it from what they've put out so far.
Otherwise, I'm more pissed about the availability of the 6" Cobra Island Trooper, Baroness and Vipers I won't be able to get short of selling a kidney. |

Retro Duke is absolutely unforgivable as the screaming head Duke has been a laughing stock of fandom since it premiered, but otherwise I'm happy with Wave 3. Retro is simply filling a slot and although Retro Scarlett proves it could be so much more, clearly Classified is where it's at as far as R&D and focus for Hasbro. Me, I'll simply take what I can get.

I'm very happy with the Hiss and the driver. I keep. I buying them when I see them. I'm also happy with the AWE and headsculpt of Crankcase. I also like the new Destro due to his new colors. RB is a good build just wish they gave him a different head BUT the head is new so it will be good for something. Anyone do anything cool with the new RB head?

I’m pretty much just collecting the odd classified figure here and there but I was looking forward to getting a 3.75 inch Duke. What a disappointment the reveal was! I think even the 25th comic pack Duke is better!

Not understanding the limitations of what Hasbro has to work with, it appears they missed out on an opportunity. There are tons of examples of custom Joes that would have been so much better than what we have seen so far. Re-releasing old molds that no one wanted in the first place seems like a fail.

Retro line has been just what it set out to be for the most part - Hasbro flexing its new face painting tech muscles on older molds (skimping on paint everywhere else). The exceptions are a few previously unreleased heads. “Previously unreleased” does not mean newly tooled, though. They might be new. They might also be scrapped projects from a times with a bigger budget. I for one, fell for it. I thought they would release something new for Duke. If they do eventually it will probably coincide with the movie line.
Edit: Everyone is talking about parts choice. I agree and all but my biggest gripe overall is paint. I’ve been increasingly disappointed with paint quality downcreep in every new line since Pursuit of Cobra. Incremental decreases in paint application (quantity and quality) have eaten away my respect down to near-nothing over the past 8 years. I thought it was at an all time low with Retaliation’s hit n’ miss face paint apps and huge swaths of unpainted plastic (They even experimented with “Almost No Paint” Dollar General line-at least it was a lower price!! But then 50th had me flabbergasted. The Retro line alongside now to boot has pushed the line down to the level of quality of a knock-off brand. You can’t put enough high tech face paint on to counteract the rest of the lack-of-effort. Retro sculpts without retro quality in most aspects except the face paint. Must’ve increased the profit margin quite a bit, to the silent protests of the design team. Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 11-23-2020 at 06:22 PM.. |

Yeah that's how I feel. I hope it keeps rolling and has a chance to do better. Lots of TV shows I love had a terrible first season. Maybe they'll figure out more as time goes along and more fans will be pleased with the results.

Not disagreeing with either of your points. There are absolutely better builds available for Duke & CC. I personally thought they'd shrink down the head they used for Classified Duke, the same way they did for Retro RB, but instead they decided to pivot in a completely different direction. But again, at least we'll get Duke and CC carded on those sweet, sweet retro cards.
