I don't think I would collect any of these side companies if they picked up GI Joe. I would rather watch Hasbro fail and learn from their mistakes and try again. Right now they have a solid run of characters to pull from but production and marketing are very poor. If they took some pointers from their Marvel or Starwars team they could probably get more interest.
Boss Fight Studios designed the best Joe figures released during the modern era. Their HACKS line is decent. They have great sculpts, but terrible upper thigh construction (they say they switched designs to keep from getting sued by Hasbro) and suffer from having to re-use limited parts. However, I have no doubt that if they had a bigger budget and access to Hasbro's tools, they would make a Retro line a hundred times better than the current Joe team. Marauders Task Force has shown that they care about their products and have a passion for this stuff. Their figures are awesome, but again they suffer from limited tooling available. With Hasbro's resources, they too would do a much better job. Chicken Fried Toys has been knocking their Dime Store Legends western line out of the park. They obviously love this stuff and put tons of effort into their work. They would improve the Retro line too. And finally, the GiJoe Club - they made some excellent figures and showed the ability to make inspired figures using only existing parts. If allowed to do a more mass market line, I know it would be an iprovement |

Oh, and I forgot David Vonner... he isn't a side company (currently works form Mattel doing their wrestling figures)... but anything that dude touches turns to gold!

FUGLY!? Maaaaaaaaaaaaan you CRAZY!
That Snake Eyes shirt has been sold out for over a year. I just happen to see it today and was finally able to snag it. They sell out of many shirts but, who knows how many they make. I have the camo Japanese logo shirt and it's well made. The silkscreen is nice. It's been washed quite a few times and has held up well. Oh man I agree. He's great. Also, love his appearances in "The That Made Us"

Honestly, that's probably the only "nerd" shirt I've seen (at leas for a long time) that I'd actually wear. I really like it's simplicity.
Different strokes, I guess!
