The part of his interview I find baffling is, "Robert is a huge Japanese cinephile, everything from [Akira] Kurosawa to just the phenomenal Spaghetti Westerns of samurai movies." Spaghetti Westerns and samurai movies are two different things, from very different countries and cultures. A couple of famous Spaghetti Westerns were based on samurai movies, which is perhaps what he was referring to, but whatever he meant isn't at all clear from his word salad. |

"Cinema" is what we call it on this side of the pond. No one would say "movie theater".

I'm not (originally) American either, but seeing as 90% of the people I'm around are, I still sorta try to "speak their language". Because I wouldn't want to sound pretentious. (Although an occasional "ghastly" or "mortified" still slips out sometimes.) At any rate, this wasn't meant as a dig at Mr Golding (who seems like a cool guy). Quote:

WARNING EVERYONE: I'm quarantining after being exposed to coronavirus at a party Tuesday night. So any offensive comments I make, assume it's the COVID-19 talking.
