JACKPOT M-FERS!!! JACKPOT!!!
2 Vipers in custody. See the attached photo of what I found this morning at Target. I am so glad to be done with this snipe hunt. I know some say I write too much but for those interested in how I tracked these down this week and played a hunch this morning and found them, read on. You might be able to do the same thing I did and find them: I was running errands on Monday and figured what the hell let me stop into two Targets nearby and see if by chance there are some Vipers sitting on pegs like some have found. Both Targets I went into went exactly the same. There were empty pegs and clerks were stocking right next to the Joe pegs. I sad to them, hey have you seen any G.I. Joes around here? They both said no. Then on their own pulled out their handhelds and scanned the pegs. Both said, yep we got none BUT some are coming in on Wednesday. One store was supposed to get 4 and the other 3. I could not believe what I was hearing and I thanked them and said I'll be back. On Wednesday morning I went out at opening. Again, I must be lucky, no lines and just one other guy who turned out was looking for Hot Wheels. I wrote about him in an above post and what he told me about this store. There was nothing at this first store except for an unhelpful employee telling me to come back at 10. OK, I'll play your game today I thought. So I left and went to the other store. At this store I ran into the same employee who said come back Wednesday. He said he had not seen the figures and we went over and scanned the pegs. He looked very perplexed and said we were supposed to get them in but they weren't on the truck. He went on his own accord and started looking around. I did not ask him too. He came back a while later empty handed and seemed really really confused and said he has never seen this before. I noticed while looking at his handheld it said they randomly did get in some Vipers on the 8th. He had no clue what was going on so I left and decided to go check a third store. At the third store a super helpful employee looked them up for me and found out that they were supposed to get two in this past Tuesday and did not. He, like the other guy, was super confused and had never seen anything like this before. So much so he, on his own, went behind the tech counter and busted out some larger handheld device and went and scanned the tag and was looking up all kinds of things. He could not figure out were these figures were. While walking out he kind of mused to himself but loud enough for me to hear, "We are getting two trucks in tomorrow. I wonder if they could be late and be on there?" I thank him and said I would check back. I then went back to the first store as now it was past 10 AM. Still no one working in the toy section when I got there and it was 10:30 AM at this point. I asked a tech guy if there was anyone in toys. The guy gets on the radio and says, "Where is the person who is supposed to be in toys right now?" No one answers the radio. He asks again and finally someone responds and he says, "You need to get out here and talk to this customer who will meet you in tech." I thought it was interesting how he talked to this guy. The guy comes out and is real standoffish at first. Clearly he doesn't even want to talk to me. I tell him that a clerk told me to come back today as they were supposed to get some in. He now looked confused and a little pissed and did not say anything to me. He just stood there. So I said, I have the item number if you want it. He looks around and I got the vibe he was trying to think of some excuse not to help me. Then he goes with a sigh, "OK what is it?" Keep in mind I have not even told him what I am looking for yet just that some were supposed to be in today. He looks it up and sees that they were supposed to get some in but they did not come in. He then seems to get a little nicer and talks to me a little bit. I thank him and leave. On my way out I am just thinking, wow so some jacka_ _ security guard complained about not getting his and now this entire store seems to be afraid to even talk to customers and the toy guys hide in the back. I don't think I will go back to this store to ever look again and it is the closest, biggest, and nicest Target I have ever been in. Different than any other one I've been too. I decided to hit up the last store that is close to me. This time the guy working there is super helpful and he pulls me aside and talks to me for several minutes. He was very knowledgeable about the line and even talked about the first wave and what happened back in August. He said the more we can help guys like you the easier it is on us. He said it makes no sense to not be helpful and he doesn't get why other stores are not. He showed me on his handheld that they also got Vipers in twice. Randomly, well after the street date, and just a few or a couple. He said they sold quickly the same morning they put them out. He then tells me his theory on their shipping dates in the handhelds. He said he thinks that a lot of times the date it says the stuff was supposed to arrive at the store is actually the date the truck left or is leaving with it. So maybe check stores for a few days after that date. I thanked him and left and I think this is the store I will now be checking if I have to. This morning I decided to go back and check that third store that was getting two trucks in and was supposed to get two Vipers on Tuesday. I thought to myself this is it I won't be checking after this. I was the only person there at opening. No lines. No one. I walked back to the aisle and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but two Vipers on the pegs. Before I checked out I punched in the DPCI number in the kiosk and it came right up and actually said this store had "2 on hand." Well, look at that! So they were supposed to come Tuesday but really showed up two days later on Thursday. I really hope to God that this is the last time we do this sh_t. If we have to do it again give Target some sh_t figure no one wants. Like Target would know the difference. Teal Deer: These Viper figures are randomly showing up at stores in small numbers. Unless you guess right and show up the same morning they get some in you won't find these. It's akin to winning a lottery. If you can, strike up a friendly conversation with a clerk and see if they will check their handhelds to see what date they are getting some in. Go back that date and for a few days after. This is the best lead I can think of so far without Popfindr and Brickseek working.

I like the coloring on that figure alot more - the camo is more like the original FF - its darker and no white. The main thing I don't like about the Classified FF is the vest. It is too big and box-shaped.. especially at the hips. I would prefer FF with no vest at all, just his bandolier, but the Classified figure doesn't have a painted torso. and the Action Force figure has painted sides and shoulders that I don't like https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Produ...Details/106996 Last edited by Dusty777; 01-28-2021 at 01:28 PM.. |

I honestly prefer the Fornite one (the Legendary series one, not the Mcfarlane one). That big bulky vest ruined that Classified Firefly figure, for me at least.

It really just depends on who else is there when the store opens and if the store limits to one per customer. If there are alot of stores in an area, chances are there won't be collectors waiting at every store, especially if they come on a weekday |

If THAT is what it takes to find one, well, I'm shit out of luck. I can't hit multiple stores on a weekday morning, I have to be at work. Actually, that is what helped me find Troopers and the Baroness, I had a weekday off each week due to my hours being reduced due to the pandemic. I think one of the things that is bullshit with Target in regards to Classified Viper, is how they seem to have completely disabled the listings on the app. No in store p/u at all. With the Trooper, I was actually able to purchase one in the early morning on the app for in-store p/u. With the new hard to find Target Exclusive Black Series Mando/Child deluxe figure, the same thing. Came available early A.M., bought on the app for in store p/u no problem. Target is screwing us by completely disabling it on the app.

But what good does a bunch of empty shelf space do for Hasbro? Hell, if I were them, I'd start trying to shift more sales to being direct to consumer. Hasbro Pulse is like the "practice round" for what will probably be the future of toy sales. They should just get more and more YouTube exposure that funnels sales to their own platform. Walmart and Target are trash for toy distribution.
I think we're still just stuck in this awkward limbo between the TRU era and what comes next. There's no way that the current system is the desired system for anyone involved whether it be the toy maker, the retailer or the end consumer. So they’d rather discomfort a bunch of 40 year olds than risk rubbing Target the wrong way. Last edited by TheSteelBrigade; 01-28-2021 at 03:46 PM.. |

There's no way that the current system is the desired system for anyone involved whether it be the toy maker, the retailer or the end consumer. As put above, Hasbro has no problems angering a relatively small market of 40something (mostly) dudes while keeping one a major retail outlet's good side. Hasbro dies without the retail outlets. They can live without us. And while I have the impression that the folks that actually design the toys are "on our side" I'm quite willing to bet there are a lot of folks in the marketing and bean-counting departments that would be THRILLED to not have to deal with us anymore. Just curious about where you heard this? I am not doubting you at all. I am just wondering is there another site I should be checking out for G.I. Joe news?
If true, thank God this is a character I am not really interested in. I am so done with exclusives it's not funny. It is literally exhausting. I will maybe post later if anyone is interested what I learned this week at my local Target stores about the Vipers. Unlike what that Toy Wizard guy with the douchebag mustache said, this is not some fun old school toy hunt. It is more like a Snipe Hunt or wild-goose chase. P.S. For those who don't know what a "Snipe Hunt" is: "A type of practical joke or fool's errand in which an unsuspecting newcomer is duped into trying to catch a nonexistent animal called a snipe. The target of the prank is led to an outdoor spot and given instructions for catching the snipe; these often include waiting in the dark and holding an empty bag or making noises to attract the creature." It is scary how close this description is to looking for these Vipers. A type of practical joke or fool's errand in which an unsuspecting newcomer (G.I. Joe fan) is duped into trying to catch a nonexistent animal called a snipe (Viper). The target of the prank is led to an outdoor spot (Target Stores) and given instructions for catching the snipe (Hasbro live streams, message boards, Popfindr); these often include waiting in the dark (waiting in the dark before the sun rises in line outside Target) and holding an empty bag or making noises to attract the creature (asking employees about the missing figures). |

Can we talk about how much rifles with the enclosed (for lack of a better word) trigger grip suck? There are only so many poses you can do with it. I am of course speaking of Viper, a great figure for any other reason but that. I'm planning on buying some 1/12 scale weapon packs anyway so it isn't a huge concern, but still.
