Eh, if I were either Hasbro or Target in this Cobra Island situation, I'd be pondering just how many more of these figures I could have sold. A missed opportunity on additional sales may not be a "loss" in revenue but it is a lost opportunity at additional revenue in the short term. I have to imagine this has been a learning opportunity for all involved. If things don't go smoother with similar products in the coming year, then they've learned nothing and congratulations to the scalpers once again.

Exactly. I'm sure they've got to be trying to ramp things up over there now with all this hindsight from 2020 (oof).

"Classic" troop builders should go the same route as Regal CC and have a period of time "open" for pre-order. That way everyone gets as many as they want and Hasbro can make as much profit as they can... Give Target the variant/color ones. Or even ones not as main stream such as say Eels, Tele-Viper, Snow Serpent, etc.. But Cobra Troopers and Vipers? Come on man lol. I've said it before too, I'm very afraid that my favorite Trooper that is red and Target's propensity for red colored exclusives...

It's just so dumbfounding that this Cobra Island fiasco happened. And not only that - but it happened TWICE.

My assumption is that both waves were planned and coordinated all at once and there wasn't enough time to make adjustments to the second wave once they realized how strong demand was for wave one.

What's crazy is that Wave 2 is even worse than the first wave.

There's a logic to that - the first wave neither consumers nor producers/retailers could have anticipate the demand and resale market. The second wave, everybody anticipated the demand, but the supply side couldn't/wouldn't do anything to fix it, so it by definition had to be worse. Scalpers and fans were ready for scarcity from day one.
