I noticed this morning that FF and CV are showing sold out on the Target site. I haven’t seen that yet.

Either they have stock held back for preorders or they are going to hose a bunch of folks.

Did Target really pay Hasbro a lot for this exclusive deal? “Hey Hasbro we want to pay you a ton for a brand that comes around once a decade and then only lasts a few years.” I doubt this happened like that so I keep coming back to the sense that Hasbro lost revenue on the CI deal.

As sbarty said, Classified is targeted at adult collectors and Pulse is an adult collecting website yet Hasbro makes a deal with Target. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

They must have owed Target a favor. And yeah, it definitely doesn't make sense that Target would even care about exclusive rights to a brand that hasn't been around in awhile. But I am sure Target is very happy with the results. Hasbro definitely lost out on the opportunity to make a lot of money with these figures.

Are they though? I don't see how "a bunch of dorks showing up at 8AM and sprinting to the toy aisle - grabbing what they can as they argue amongst themselves - then rushing to self scan checkouts - and immediately leave with their bounty in hand" makes Target happy at all.

What is that doing for them except irritating their employees. Whoop Dee - they got to sell 4 action figures totaling $80. I'm sure their plan of gaining additional sales and purchases throughout the store has not worked so well. How often is anyone going into Target looking for these - but instead walking out with a cart full of towels, cat food, and party decorations? I don't think it's happening.

To be a successful loss leader, they would have to have enough product to last for a while. Draw people in - let them buy other stuff while they are in the store. Having 4 action figures that sell in 20 seconds does nothing for Target. Nothing but make them look incompetent and piss us all off.
