I tried to buy another for my dude in Canada who drives a truck and likely is not able to purchase right now. Even via a separate order, it was *instantly* cancelled. I rec'd a confirmation email of purchase and then a split second later a "your order has been canceled" email.
So, I absolutely respect that bc it neutralizes the bots that can place dozens of single orders in a heartbeat. It is a little aggravating b/c the item says "Limit of one item per order," not "per customer." Alas, small price to pay to feel semi-confident I'll get it. It's filtering through IP addresses which is defiantly something that you don't see every day. |

I noticed Target's last couple of preorders for Star Wars stuff has hung around a lot longer so I was wondering if they found a fix to the ridiculousness and it sounds like they have. It's cool when companies pay attention. First they apparently order enough Bludd's and now this! Way to go Target!
God only knows how many will get returned "after" the fact because people couldn't move them, with more on order from the company because they "think" that sales are great. Then that could leave you with items clogging shelves and too much product. Yea, that's great for the customer, but bad for the retailer. Then they have to go in and adjust the numbers again for future waves. It's a constant back and forth game of cat and mouse and not something that's easy to solve. |

Oh, that's *wild*. I wonder if I can turn on my VPN and place a separate purchase from my primary account, ha.

Getting the numbers right is super tough. How many of these things are being gobbled up due to "scalping tactics?" When that happens it sends a false sense of what the actual sales and customer demand is.

People who do that (buy up *everything* only to return 90% later when prices cool down) are one step removed from dog crap. They eff it up for everyone across the board (retailer and customer) and don't even have the decency to eat their mistake when the boat sinks. If you're gonna scalp and make a profit, have the balls to accept a loss as well.

I'm not sure how Target is detecting a second order, because I couldn't order a second even over the cellular network. Maybe it's blocking based on billing address?

Yeah that's pretty easy actually. Though not highly accurate. Might just be using your zipcode or street.

I was thrilled to be able to order at Target at 3:30pm Eastern when I saw them there. I was shocked. We will see what happens but this is clearly a step in the right direction in my opinion.

I have been stalking Target's website trying to catch a Baroness, when I noticed Barbeque. I was like oh shit! I grabbed a Breaker & Barbeque and placed the order. I came over here to let everyone know and apparently I was late to the party. LOL! Either way, I am stoked to have at least got a preorder in. Hopefully they fulfill it.
And if any one gets an extra Baroness, I'm your Huckleberry!! |
