I did all that research to find out what Joe v1 molds could potentially still exist.

After being used in the 2000's I have hope that these version 1's are still around.

People in the "retro" thread keep thinking those mold are gone, but Hasbro has a history of keeping stuff other companies wouldn't. Hasbro did say that anything vintage NOT used in the 2000's repaint era was being scrapped, as refurbishing costs were becoming as expensive as making molds from scratch. But it costs money to even scrap stuff(manpower to find and move molds, setting up contracts to scrap), and I don't think Hasbro has, in the last 10 years, cared enough about warehouse space to scrap something that could still make money. Rather, this is a "movie year" and I think they got a little extra money for the brand to check on what's still useable. In '09, they went hunting and brought out SNAKE armor, MMS, Surveillance Post, and such for store exclusives, and non of those had been seen in 20 years. And if they preserved them well, they could STILL be used.

But it costs money to even scrap stuff(manpower to find and move molds, setting up contracts to scrap), and I don't think Hasbro has, in the last 10 years, cared enough about warehouse space to scrap something that could still make money. Rather, this is a "movie year" and I think they got a little extra money for the brand to check on what's still useable. In '09, they went hunting and brought out SNAKE armor, MMS, Surveillance Post, and such for store exclusives, and non of those had been seen in 20 years. And if they preserved them well, they could STILL be used.

Also, for the other reissue lines they put out in the past few years, when they had lost the mold to something they simply recasted it and made a new mold.

As I said, "...and such". Never saw it or the MMS in stores! Outpost defender with V1 style Grunt and Rock and Roll would sell, I bet. MMS with a V2 Hawk would rock.

I missed that whole era of Joe, I only knew of the OD because they were being scalped on eBay heavily while I was shopping for the original. I'd definitely buy either of those two sets with those figures though. Some of the Cobra sets with some blueshirts or Vipers would kick ass too!
