This guy understands the difference between constructive criticism and criticism (see: insults). I appreciate your thoughtful honesty and actual constructive feedback. If you are referring to any of the 1st 3 episodes and all the PSA's that I made over a year ago, I 100% agree. I went back and rewatched them recently and they are boring for the most part. One of my biggest problems is adding too much dialogue and exposition that does nothing to move the story forward. I am currently re-editing episodes 1-3 to shorten the run times which will, hopefully, make them a little more enjoyable. I've already cut episode 1 from 14 minutes down to 6 1/2 minutes, and I will do the same for episodes 2 and 3.
As for the PSA's, I'm scrapping all the old ones I did and writing all new ones. As with my full episodes, I have a problem with too much dialogue and exposition. I have decided to give myself a superficial 60 second limit for the PSA's, forcing me to set it up and get to the point at a much faster pace. I think that will help make them less boring. I am familiar with Dan Harmon's story circle that he uses to write his scripts. A lot of people credit Harmon with the idea, but he didn't create it...he just modified the existing hero's journey model. That said, I agree, it is a very useful model that is a fantastic blueprint for writing a script. As I said, over-exposition is one of my (many) problems. I'm still learning to cut all the unnecessary crap out to make things flow much better. I actually have a book that I've been meaning to read called "Save the Cat: The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need". It's supposed to be very informative. Audio is something I've had a lot of trouble with...When I am in Adobe Premiere everything sounds fine, but after I export it the audio is always off. I'm not sure if it's the PC I've been using or if it's the speakers, but I just bought a new PC and will move all of my projects over to it once I get moved in to my new house. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to read your comment. I really do appreciate it. |

The emphasis is on the 2nd syllable.
