I've seen a lot of speculation on this. Has Hasbro ever officially confirmed they no longer have access to all previous tooling?
If so, were the early Retro waves produced in China, and therefore that was the reason for the usage? If so, how is the Retro HISS Driver and now Rip-It still using the POC Shock Trooper torso and ROC Zartan lower arms? My understanding is the tooling is very expensive to create. Seems odd to abandon those resources completely. I've also seen it posted that the molds are heavy and too cumbersome move, but that seems odd too. FMF successfully did so when they changed factories for EFR and the pictures didn't look too large - and they're just an Indie company. Wow - first I've heard of this. Was this officially confirmed by Hasbro as well? For the same reasons posted above that seems strange to destroy expensive molds that belong to the company. Not questioning you guys personally, just trying to understand. If all this is true then we'll never see the final Concept Vault pieces - and that's a bummer. As for the comparison with FMF, I'd chalk that up to them being a small company, and as such, far more invested in their tooling than a giant like Hasbro would be. The replacement costs could sink a company like FMF, whereas Hasbro is big enough to maybe find it less expensive to destroy them rather than store and maintain them- especially if they had the idea that the line was indeed dead, as it appeared to be just a couple of years ago.

I saw one once in a battered box months ago, probably a return, and regret not picking it up.
That, and the FANG once, are the only Retro items I've ever seen on shelf. Have yet to see a single carded figure in the wild. |

As someone already mentioned and I don't feel like messing with the message to make it smaller but has hasbro ever confirmed that the molds for the poc figures are destroyed or is it something someone brought up and now others have just parroted it back as fact?

It would make perfect sense for a megacorp to destroy or lose the best molds and feed us garbage (Retro Duke) Its par for the course in the world we live in.
That said I just popped open the Retro CTs I found in the store and they do feel durable. I'm just writing them off as different body types for the troopers. |

Big thanks to Sbartek1974 for sending me a replacement retro Cobra Commander for my son. And like I said, I'll be sure to glue the helmet to the figures head this time Greatly appreciated. You're a good dude.
