Thanks man! From this pic and from reading over one of Zap's breakdowns, (which mentions the Retro Trooper's torso being slimmer than Stalker's), I hopeful that this new webgear will fit well on the old 25th Trooper. (I'm one of--or the only?--weirdo who prefers that Trooper to the POC/30th/50th version.)

I really want to see 1982 & 1983 figures like Clutch, Steeler, Zap, Short-Fuze, Doc, Cover Girl, Major Bludd and Airborne. Dr. Venom, General Flagg, Cobra comms officer, and a blue Baroness would be very nice too. |

Is it possible to sit Rip-It in the HISS tank and close the cover? I was struggling to do so without his head pushing against it uncomfortably (for me, not him - he's plastic, after all).

I don't think the new web gear looks as good as the 25th. To me, the straps taper in too close to the belt buckle and the shoulder pads look too bulky, almost cartoony. Plus, if they were going to add a detachable weapon feature, then why didn't they come up with some sort of removeable pistol? I've been waiting on that since I was a kid because I always thought the prototype image looked like it was supposed to have a removeable pistol. Jason |

I also like the 25th Cobra figures as being more of a homage to the 82/83 figures. However, I also like the better sculpting details to the POC line. So, I have a good mix of box styles of figures.

Jason The sculpting on the POC version is definitely great, but there were too many things "off" about that figure for my tastes (as was often the case with cobbled together figures): the hunched over look, limited head articulation (IIRC), the ill-fitting webgear. Plus, and this is probably a weird, idiosyncratic thing, I hated the fact that he was wearing SE's BDUs! I could never unsee that. They should have just used the Shock-Viper legs IMO. In a weird way, the sculpting of the POC Trooper works against it a bit for me, as I see Blueshirts as the dregs of the Cobra ranks; ragtag, good-for-nothing losers and social misfits suckered by the conman that is CC. In my vision, they're not super bad-ass looking commando types dripping with gear. (That's for the various Viper ranks.) So the softer, less imposing sculpting of the 25th Troopers works well for me. I share you concerns about the retro webgear--especially about the shoulder pads, which do look thick. (Good point about the pistol too--I remember that prototype from the original catalog!) I haven't seen it in hand yet, though, so it's hard for me to judge properly. I do have Stalker as of yesterday, and his webgear is pretty good, so I'm holding out hope it will look good.

I'm not alone! Cool. My preferred version is the final single card release: a darker, more uniform shade of blue with red sigil on the chest and arm. I swap out the heads for ones with a black cowl though.

Here is a link to my custom "Blue Shirt Legion" project where I did several custom Cobra figures based on the POC Cobra and Shocktrooper figures. In the group shot, you can see my 25th figures mixed with the others. https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...rt-legion.html Jason |

I have the new Cobra Trooper. The only redeeming thing to me is that they made the yoke in the back in kind of a Y-pattern. I think the removeable knife is cool, but again that whole why didn't they make the pistol removeable instead issue.
