Just had a thought. What if retro means 12”. Like 5 poa 12 inch at that price point. Maybe not, but aren’t there other 12 inch that are similar, marvel? How much were they in store?

At 13 bucks a piece they should have the budget to make solid poc style figures. If they did that, with vintage figure sculps, I think they would knock it out of the park with collectors.

The Vintage Collection is a mass retail item, meaning ANYONE with a Hasbro account can order them: https://www.target.com/p/star-wars-t...e/-/A-79446877 https://www.entertainmentearth.com/p...-case/hse0370f https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Searc...343&Brand=2308 The RETRO Collection (recreations of the original 80s Kenner stuff) is a Walmart exclusive this year.

As I typed that out, I flashed to the non-ninjas from Retaliation wave 1. Those figure without the wrist articulation, but move the chest joint to the waist.

Many of the recent re-releases of classic vehicles and play sets had to be retooled to accommodate the larger 25th anniversary style figures. There are no known issues of reverse compatibility problems (i.e. the changes made to a vehicle in the 25th line made it incompatible for an o-ring figure), are there?
I'm kind of expecting "retro" to be 80s-accurate o-ring figures but am hoping vehicles are in original 80s style packaging (and don't repeat the gimmick of pre-placed stickers) but remain updated to fit both 80s and modern-era figures. |

Maybe they'll do something somewhere between MTF and the newer Corps figures. Keep the sculpting closer to the MTF end of the spectrum, but get rid of the wrist/ankle articulation and the double pin knees. Lanard has been using plastic rivets, since they introduced the t-crotch figures. Hasbro just need to decide on how they are going to do the waist joint.
As I typed that out, I flashed to the non-ninjas from Retaliation wave 1. Those figure without the wrist articulation, but move the chest joint to the waist. Personally, I'm not sure that the O-ring is as much a factor in the cost as the metal would be, but I'm no expert there. I do know that even for us non-corporate entities, they're dirt cheap. My main concern would be whether or not the plastic t-hook would withstand the constant pressure an o-ring would apply. Truthfully, I'm of the opinion that these will be built much as they were in the 80's. I haven't seen a reissue TF to guage how much metal has been replaced with plastic, but from what I have seen from other lines, they seem to stay fairly close to the source. Either way, a little speculation never hurts. I just hope this alleged "Friday" has some good confirmations for us. |
