I hope these are real "retro" like the star wars figures. I need more figures that will fit in the terror drome, defiant complex, MCC and the rolling thunder that I managed to pick up(with the covid money)

I'm thinking more about your statement "Retro means the same in everything else." To me, "retro" does not mean the exact representation of the original, it means an "updated version of the original."
Understand, I'm not saying that you are explaining "retro" as an exact representation of the original, I am just trying to go through my thought process here. When Dodge relaunched the Challenger and Charger, these "retro" cars were not the exact representation of the originals, but updated versions in the style of the originals. Likewside, VW reintroduced the "Bug" as a retro, updated version of the original, not an exact representation. BMX bicycle companies are going through a huge "retro" phase right now by producing "retro" frames, forks, cranks, stems, and handlebars, NOT as exact representations of the originals, but as updated versions of the orginals - I actually bought a "retro" 2017/1988 Haro Sport frame, but it very much has all the modern frame geometry, 1-1/18" headtube, mid-size bottom bracket and thicker, laser cut drop outs. So, my thinking with Hasbro is that "retro" does not mean "an exact representation" of the original O-ring line but an updated version of it. The problem here is that Hasbro has already gone down this path once beginning with the 25th Anniversary line and then we have to take into consideration the current Star Wars "retro" line, which is almost an "exact representation of the original" line. So, all of this discussion of what is "retro" and what is not "retro" reminds me of the Dread Pirate Roberts statement to Vizzini, "Truly, you have a dizzying intellect." LOL!!! I am just glad to see G.I.Joe back on the shelves! Hopefully it breathes life into every aspect of the hobby. Jason Side note, I have a 2009 “Classic” package (retro styling) Challenger R/T, and absolutely adore it!

I would be very surprised to see an o-ring product come out at this point. If 0-rings did come out, then I would be extremely happy and glad to be wrong.
In your explanation of retro, the first thing that popped into my head was the Marauder style of figures. They have modern articulation, but their waist movement is similar to the o-ring. The modern era Joe figures went with a chest articulation instead of a waist articulation. I think a new retro Joe line with the Marauder style of articulation would be a pretty great compromise. THIS is exactly what a "Retro" brand would mean to me. In my mind this is the only way to have a "Retro" line that is different from the 25th to 50th style with the chest articulation. It'll be interesting to see what they reveal on Friday. Fingers crossed. Jason |

Vintage collectors, probably already own most if not all of the vintage figures they can find. Where a "retro"/"repro" line such as this would be more successful would be to offer characters in the old Kenner style that have never been produced, like what they've done with Grand Moff Tarkin, such as the Bith Band, Ceremonial Luke, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Sandtrooper, etc. This idea though really wouldn't carry over as well into G.I. Joe. Again, most "vintage" ARAH collectors probably already have all the vintage figures they can find. Plus, I think the O-ring market is a niche market. However, I will quickly concede that in the face of the "retro" Star Wars line and Ghostbusters, that I would not be surprised if this "retro" line was not some sort of O-ring figures. I'm hoping not, that's what I'm expecting. Jason |

I think we're overlooking one scary possibility here: Bend 'ems made to look like the original o-ring figures.
Remember we heard the rumor about bend 'ems? Nothing else has been seen or heard about them. And this alteration would satisfy the argument that o-ring figures would be too costly to produce while making damn sure nobody would mistake them for vintage specimens. What if...

What if Hasbro realized no one opens this retro carded stuff and it's just a 3d picture of a figure on the vintage style card back?

Back when the rumor that Jazzwares had acquired the G.I. Joe license to produce ARAH figures. Hasbro was releasing the Marvel bend-‘em figures but also had BIG news for G.I. Joe. Speculations & rumors ran amok.
