Upper torso piece is new. Also Fang Pilot has pins on the legs so the legs are reworked. Footpeg is also on a different location.

I was able to pick up 2 of each of Stalker and Cobra Trooper (why is my phone trying to autocorrect trooper to stripper?). One for opening, and the other as breakage back up or to customize....perhaps I should find my female troopers and customize a Cobra Stripper, code named Amber?
I knew the local reseller were going to be out hunting this weekend, and for some odd reason I fell asleep by 9:30 last night, waking up at 4:30. It all seemed to come together this morning as I arrived at the Walmart 20 mil s away and didn't find anything on the shelf. I did find the box being crushed in the middle of one of 4 palettes. This store has three pegs devoted for Retro GIJOE but only receives 6 figures in their shipment. It seems as if these are selling fairly well, which makes me wonder why most store I see only have a shelf near the floor to dump these, and most stores only carry 6 figures at a time (which often sell out within a day. Bizarre.

On that note I'm taking my phone today and try to remember how to turn off auto correct. Had to reset a while back and it's got to go!

Zap, thanks for this amazing post. I've cut it short in this reply, but for all, here's a link to Zap’s Retro Collection Overview. 46zone, you need to include this link in your period update posts.
Great info and pics, especially about MTF intergration (frankly, I don't know much about MTF builds, wish the MTF customizers would get a nice guide together in the general discussion sub-section). The breakdowns, pics, body comparisons, parts swaps, all reminded me of JoeBattlelines.com and GeneralsJoes.com in their prime. Only thing missing was blue backgrounds... Zap I think you should start a thread in the customs general discussion subsection called "2021 New Joe Build Guide", based on this post. Start it out with a general intro, where the an up-to-date index can be kept, then copy this post into the thread. These new builds have great opportunity, but for customizing we are going to have to relearn to techniques. The main one you mentioned is dealing with the pegless legs (I've already got an issue I'll bring up at the end). Also interested body part swap techniques with MTF, which these new Hasbro builds seem to integrate well with sizewise (and based on vast improvements from Fang Pilot to Stalker, sculpts will likely keep improving). I'll gladly contribute/help as I can. You can also PM me about. Should coordinate with 46zone as well. My current body part issue is with the Cobra Trooper left leg: extremely wobbly at the knee. The knee rings are too narrow at this single leg, lots of gap room. Anyone else have this problem with theirs? It's hard for me to judge this figure right now b/c this loose leg thing is extremely distracting. If this were an older modern figure (or even a vintage figure), I'd simply unscrew the upper leg halves, boil+pop the lower leg, thicken the knee rings with brush on clear nail polish or superglue (maybe sprinkle on baking soda), wait, reassemble, and done. Not sure the best way to deal with this issue with the new figure. I have some ideas, but wanted to get some other less risky ideas first. I don't know if this is the way it's built, but it's possible the knee piece has posts or pegs in the upper part of the knee and the same in the lower parts of the knee. The thigh pieces and lower leg pieces may have holes that posts/pegs fit in. You may be able to heat the Retro CT pinless leg in hot water and slide off each thigh piece and lower leg piece over the posts/pegs. I think this may be the only way they got the legs together. I don't see any sonic weld seams on the thighs or lower legs. I don't know, but you can try it if you have an extra.

There isn't much to say about these which hasn't been already posted (much thoroughly and much better than I could post), but one observation about the Cobra trooper which I noticed is that his wrist gauntlets (?) have what appear to be compasses or time piece built onto them. These round forms make the arms a bit "chunkier" there and bring back memories of those Built-to-Rule sculpts of the late 90's. It feels unnecessary to me, as I do not recall the original trooper having such items.
I also feel the head sculpt with the hair seems out of place. Being that this figure is a grunt trooper, I would have preferred a shorter hair style such as the poc version as well as a more menacing look (Stalker has this with his stare). This head sculpt may be better suited for a crimson guardsman, who is trying to infiltrate and disrupt from within, or for the fang pilot. This figure looses credibility as the enemy with this stylized detail. Luckily the helmet can cover this up.

Not a thing....a strong wrist is required for aerial pole maneavers.
