Zap mentions sanding down the ring's corners would help and I agree. But also just practice bending the right push point, and maybe leave the arm slightly bent at 45 at the really tight location to stretch out the pieces.

Heat up the figure before you move it.

I agree. Using this build for the OG figures would be good. A lot better than the 25th parts we have now.

Breaker, Grunt, and maybe even Hawk (based upon Stalker's "deuce" gear)... Zap (based upon the newly sculpted Cobra Trooper's rocket launcher)... If they sculpt the shoulder harness and backpack for Zap, then they will have the tools at the Vietnam factory for Short-Fuze also (the visor shared with Hawk, might be an incentive to tool up a Flash and Grand Slam figure?) ... If they're going to make rolled up sleeves for Breaker, they might as well make Clutch and Rock 'N Roll ... If they're going to make a shoulder holster rig for Clutch, then they might as well consider making Steeler ... There's some great opportunities for Retro vehicles with figures there too.

Maybe not a singular all inclusive boxed set , but I take this recent wave's Stalker and Cobra Trooper new sculpt designs to signal the intention by Hasbro to produce for this Walmart Retro collection some single carded versions of:

I like it. Mostly because I dig the old school weapon storage on his back. I thought that was awesome as a kiddo and I still do. I also like the FANG, even though I'm not buying one for $25. All this shit is overpriced, relatively speaking, but that shit's just galling. Then again, when they can get $13.00 a figure, what do I know? Duke? Yeah, I got no place for that toy, but I also returned my Retro Snake Eyes and Stormy, and never bought Destro or Lady Jaye, because I already own them.

I picked up the Retro CC for custom fodder only. The legs, head and helmet are good, but the torso and arms are 25th parts and are crap. I had a left over 50th Black and red CC torso. I was able to paint a navy blue and gold hooded CC using that torso and the retro legs. I've posted it on here before.

Sorry if I didn’t already officially mention it but add the great state of Texas to the list of finding Wave 4.

Now that you guys have had some time to view the photos, it's guided tour time...
General Info: Construction is a lot like BFS with the exception of a waist swivel and the thigh/boot swivels. Everything other than the waist section is soft plastic and appears to assemble with boil/pop construction. What you may not have noticed is that there are no visible knee pins on either one of these figures. I haven't tried to disassemble the lower legs, but I imagine Hasbro borrowed from Project Green Valley on this aspect. While the Cobra trooper legs still look like trash no matter what, the Stalker legs really do look nice with a well-hidden thigh cut, boot cut, and no knee pins. It gives a much cleaner appearance that you don't appreciate until you see it side-by-side with a figure with visible knee pins. More on that later. For now, here is how these guys break down... Showing the torso articulation points: Great info and pics, especially about MTF intergration (frankly, I don't know much about MTF builds, wish the MTF customizers would get a nice guide together in the general discussion sub-section). The breakdowns, pics, body comparisons, parts swaps, all reminded me of JoeBattlelines.com and GeneralsJoes.com in their prime. Only thing missing was blue backgrounds... Zap I think you should start a thread in the customs general discussion subsection called "2021 New Joe Build Guide", based on this post. Start it out with a general intro, where the an up-to-date index can be kept, then copy this post into the thread. These new builds have great opportunity, but for customizing we are going to have to relearn to techniques. The main one you mentioned is dealing with the pegless legs (I've already got an issue I'll bring up at the end). Also interested body part swap techniques with MTF, which these new Hasbro builds seem to integrate well with sizewise (and based on vast improvements from Fang Pilot to Stalker, sculpts will likely keep improving). I'll gladly contribute/help as I can. You can also PM me about. Should coordinate with 46zone as well. My current body part issue is with the Cobra Trooper left leg: extremely wobbly at the knee. The knee rings are too narrow at this single leg, lots of gap room. Anyone else have this problem with theirs? It's hard for me to judge this figure right now b/c this loose leg thing is extremely distracting. If this were an older modern figure (or even a vintage figure), I'd simply unscrew the upper leg halves, boil+pop the lower leg, thicken the knee rings with brush on clear nail polish or superglue (maybe sprinkle on baking soda), wait, reassemble, and done. Not sure the best way to deal with this issue with the new figure. I have some ideas, but wanted to get some other less risky ideas first. |
