Nobody is, these haven't been officially announced yet. But as a point of reference, except where things get finicky with the mold rights like the old ToyBiz Marvel figures, Hasbro's recent Star Wars and Ghostbusters lines are recreations of the original toys (since Hasbro bought out Kenner and owns the rights to those designs, even if the molds themselves are long gone) so it's not an unsafe bet they'll be OG figs...
Though there's certainly no guarantee. |

I'm not clear on what "retro" means I this case. These are not reissued of the 80s mold? Are they some updated version of what we had as kids or are they going to be taller like the anniversary figures? I, like many I think, would be so pleased with straight up reissue of the original figures with the original card backs. Obviously some basic differentiators not to upset collectors like a date molded on the figures and printed on the card.
It’s meant for vintage (65-99 years) look but modern build. So new molds ( possibly old casts) with vintage paint jobs.

Late to the party...
I hope these are OG o-ring figures. Those are the Joes I love, and while the 25th/ME figures were great I started losing interest when the 25th cards went away and stuff got harder to find. And the comic packs (especially the Oktober Guard) showed that Hasbro could recreate actual RAH figures entirely, IMO. So, if they are o-ring on vintage style card art I will probably get a MOC set, an open set, and then army build troopers. If they are ME on vintage art I will probably get a MOC set and cherry pick a few that I think are cool to open (and then inevitably be disappointed in because at the end of the day they really don't fit in with the o-rings). I feel like Modern Era sculpts on vintage card art does 100% describe the 25th line, like someone else said. I'll still be happy, though. Regardless of what they are I will probably buy a bunch for my kids, who are just getting interested in Joes and could get really into it with a little encouragement besides just getting all the toys that I can't stand anymore (see "new sculpt" crap that I bought so much of just because it was GI Joe, supposedly). Or this will wind up like the wave of Walmart exclusive playsets (Outpost Defender, Law, and Snake armor(?)) that I really wanted but never found at retail and refused to pay 3-5x markup from scalpers. I guess we'll see. |

Yeah I remember stumbling across them around 2010. It was huge mistake (Hasbro later admitted this) switching from TVC to the 4” Black series. TVC was relaunched with the Sail Barge crowd funded project. I was very happy to see it’s return.

I’m about ready to steal a boat, head to Canada and break into those containers to see what the hell these figures really are.
