I really think there is a zero percent chance that this retro line will be O-ring. There would probably be a higher level of cost on Hasbro's part to produce new O-ring figures, since I doubt the old molds are still in usable shape. I think this will be re-releases of 25th era stuff.
Of course, I could be totally wrong. I have no idea how long molds last, how many of them Hasbro still has, and how usable they may or may not be. I might be completely talking out of my ass, here. But we'll see! That said, O-rings might be better if they can do 'em, given the hard-on the collective public has for 80's nostalgia right now.

Because the Walmart Exclusive 4" Star Wars "vintage collection" (essentially like modern Joes) are the same price, but the retro Star Wars and Ghostbusters (both also Walmart exclusives) are cheaper.

If it is oring, I hope they rerelease vehicles because thought would be all I would get.

And Marvel Legend Retro are regular Legend figures on Blister packs that use the classic Toybiz art or at least use that style. There is no concrete style for Retro at Hasbro.

I sincerely doubt they’ll be o-ring either. It’s possible Hasbro could make the toys look like the vintage figures but with modern joints. Like what Mattel is doing with MOTU origins.
But most likely Hasbro will just be picking and choosing old molds from 25th/50th/etc and slapping them on vintage cardbacks, just to do something cheap and easy to capitalize on the 80’s nostalgia wave and also promote classified . Both of those options suck ass for me, and I would not bother with the line. I would prefer near 100% vintage oring accurate re-releases, even if they were $20 each, OR completely modern 3 3/4 inch ARAH era toys on vintage cardbacks. Either of those options I’d be all in. |
