But the Marvel Legends Retro line is modern figures in Toy Biz style cards, so that’s the basis of the false hope.

Some people have said O-rings are expensive to make and would require all new molds, so they are skeptical Hasbro would go that route. But if you are betting on the result, I'd put money on O-rings. If it is O-ring, I hope I can at least get a HISS tank or Rattler out of it for use with my modern figures.

The Star Wars vintage line is where I base my hope. It's entirely modern construction (and it used to be labeled Black Series).

I will buy them only if they are O-ring. I’ll keep them on card for display purposes.

A lot of people (like me) want it to be modern construction, but I think the majority of posters have said they think it will be O-ring (I also think it will be O-ring even if that's not what I want).

Since none of us knows for sure what these will be yet (although I agree the present theory that "vintage" likely means o-ring is sound) it's probably premature to call modern versions "false hope". That said, I've argued this point before. We've already had 25th/POC/50th/etc., so re-issues of those makes very little sense. Those would be the figures most adult collectors likely have tons of- I know I do. However the figures I don't have as many of and it will be fun to own them, are vintage o-ring figures on vintage (albeit retro) card backs.
