If Hasbro is releasing retro figures from Ghostbusters, then I think this is going to be done the same way for GI Joe...

Well, on Amazon the Star Wars Retro figures are going for $13.61 each so I'm assuming the $12.93 price applies to them when they were in retailers.
Edit; Just saw the other post about them being $9.99 when they were in stores, so now it has me wondering what exactly they'll be.

If these are anything like the new Motu line with all the outdated 80s sculpting, then it’s a hard pass.

Allegedly, Hasbro was taking great care to preserve the o-ring molds they used 2000-2005. I think there were issues with factories and some molds going missing (Falcon, Cobra Infantry, etc). Still, there were many vintage molds that were seen during that time that were 100% complete. So IF Hasbro hasn't recycled the molds since then, they have...
Scarlett (swivel-arm) A "Classified" character Roadblock (84) A "Classified" character Firefly (84) Storm Shadow (84) Baroness Snow Job Zartan (84) Snake-Eyes (swivel-arm) was only missing the waist, which brings me to... Hasbro spent the money to recast the Short Fuse/Zap body in '04 and they still had the Grunt/Hawk/etc torso, so they would be only headscupts away from recreating about half of the '82 line. Hasbro could produce a lot of figures without investing much money at all IF they still had these molds. Though I expect some totally new molds even if they do, since we have not seen V1 Cobra Commander, Destro, or Major Bludd since the vintage line. And a lot of the surviving molds were woefully incomplete to the point they might as well redo them. Last edited by xasonnex; 03-16-2020 at 11:17 AM.. |

I think some of them may be 6 inch figures. I'm really curious about the Hiss Tank, since it DOES NOT say Retro next to it. Will it be a retro Hiss tank? Or for some modern 1:18 line? Or... could it be say a 6-inch scale Hiss Tank, like how Hasbro is doing some smaller 6-inch vehicles for Marvel Legends and Black Series. Could it be a 6-inch Hiss Tank?
I just hope these are not Walmart exclusives. |

Marvel also has "retro" releases, but they're modern figures on retro cards.
If these are just O-ring recreations, I have less than zero interest. Happy for the folks that might actually want them, but won't be getting any myself. Same way I have zero interest in any of the other "retro" lines beyond Marvel Legends. If they're modern-construction 4" figures on retro cards, then I'll probably pick up at least a few, depending on character selection/improvements/etc... If these show up, I hope Hasbro and WM keep up on the distribution. I know the Mando 1/18 wave came out, but I've yet to see it on pegs. Of course, judging distribution by what's on the pegs right now is pointless.

New releases of the vintage o-ring figures would be great! I don't have a lot of them, and feel bad every time I beat a mint vintage figure up from use. Plus this will make army building a whole lot easier, and cheaper.
However if this line turns out to be more like the vintage collection from Star Wars I guess that would also be pretty cool. |

The only problem with the early 2000s o-ring figs is that the hands were so soft they couldn't close tight enough to hold some guns.
