So the new statement about Hasbro Fanfest has no mention of Retro reveals. I guess this line is dead, or we have to wait 6 more months before a reveal.

I would honestly not be surprised if it did get cancelled since most people only ever complained about it. Even the great figures like Scarlett they still complained about her gloves. Think about it this way, if you are a big company making what you think is the best you can do (even if it is not), and all you ever hear is complaints about it and how people are gonna buy old figures or other brands instead, why would you bother to keep making it? I know this brings up the argument of "well instead they can just improve the figures like how we want it" but the truth is Hasbro is probably making close to nothing on retro, with the vehicles shelf warming and the figures having very lackluster reception, so to them it probably seems best to just not bother since they won't be selling much at all compared to Classified and other lines. Plus from what I've seen, retro doesn't seem to be selling very well. 10s if not 100s of thousands of 6" collectors (who are not normally Joe fans) on Instagram and YouTube are keeping Classified afloat, but retro only appeals to us major Joe fans, which are simply not enough to keep a line like this going.

Hasbro should pull the plug. Joe fans are undeserving of anything Hasbro attempts anymore.

Retro was fucked from the start. Walmart exclusive-i mean, it was only a matter of time.

What do you guys want? Put out the best figure they can and make it cost like 30 bucks a pop? However, since they used the best plastic, best paints, awesome card art, thick card, good glue to the hold the bubble on, good plastic for the bubble, and best people doing it that they lose money because if they charged for the figure what they actually would need to make money because of what they used to make it they would not sell any because of the price and then the joe line would just be done. The retro line minus o face duke was not that bad collectors just want everything handed to them on a silver platter and some. And don't say you just want what you buy to be worth your money cause some of you would buy a turd if it had a joe decal slapped on it (Ala o face duke and the dollar store specials).

The retro fig I did buy was Scarlett and I really like her. The rest I already had. I have seen very few retro figs at retail so either they are selling well or I’m in an area with poor distro.
Retro to me just seems like an odd line since the waves are so small. |

Honestly, Hasbro should have started 6" as 100% classic with an included collectible trading card of the original toy card art. 80's goodness without the shelf wear issues.
Should have done Operation Blackout in 4" with included DLC codes for the game. Fairly generic packaging similar to the Dollar General waves. 6" gets upscaled favorites. 4" gets something new to test out. Between the new tooling and the extras, current prices are fine. |

The Retro line is just plagued with bad decisions and poor execution. Your arguably top 3 core characters Snake Eyes , Storm Shadow and Duke all had wtf design choices. Their proper pieces shouldn't have affected production cost. I can't bring myself to buy that Duke. Even if it ends up on clearance and his O-face becomes a cry for help.

It appears to be doing well. Smaller distribution size, for a smaller audience maybe? I think the line would do ok if they just sold it through Hasbro Pulse for collectors. Granted I've only seen 2 Classified Joes in the wild and they were both Cobra Commanders. One at a Walmart and one at a Walgreens. I'm not collecting 6 inch Joes, but it appears to be as sparse as the Retro line. |
