Figure looks better in hand. Givrs a Fortnite vibe though. Gonna post some pics of his elbow joint. I figured out why so many people broke theirs. It's a design issue.

It’s actually a preorder from Walmart.com. Very disappointing.

The company I work for has had reason to deal with this weirdness lately, and it appears to be a pricing algorithm thing. Walmart.com and Amazon use some sort of program that monitors competitor pricing and adjusts their own price accordingly. It's meant to be a price-matching tool (at least at Amazon). You really notice it with Amazon when a third-party seller on Amazon's own site or a competitor like Target or Walmart decreases a price and Amazon's price follows suit. With Walmart though, it seems to also adjust prices UP to match the pricing of the 3rd-party scalpers on its own site. Whether Walmart's program is fucked up or this is by design is a matter of debate. I personally think Walmart is perfectly fine with selling above MSRP and it's by design.

A little more info on this Walmart pricing weirdness. Back when we first started looking into this, in addition to tracking our client's products pricing on Walmart.com, we also selected some random other products to monitor. Since I was into this shit at the time, I added Retro Lady Jaye and some Spin Master DC stuff to the "random" list. I can't talk about our client's products, but I can say that LJ went from a "preorder" price below $12.99 (12.86 or whatever) to $12.99, then to $13.04 (or something) and then to it's current $20-plus price. Meanwhile, third-party sellers on Walmart.com were already selling at that $20+ pricepoint, which feels like Walmart is price-matching upward.
The interesting thing to me is that the Spin Master stuff (Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman and Aquaman all from the same "wave") has done some even stranger shit. The pricing remained flat every time they popped up as in stock ($7.97), but there would only be one of each in stock EVERY TIME. Just that one in stock, it would sell, the item would then be out of stock, only to appear again a week later at $7.97 with one in stock again. Lately the price has begun to increase when they would come back in stock though. Lex went up to $9.50, Aquaman up to $10.22... Now, if you buy a product on Walmart.com for under a certain dollar amount and then request a return, it triggers an automatic refund with a "you can keep, discard or donate this item" and Walmart essentially gives you the item for free. So it could be the price increase on these Spin Master figures is a way to combat this and get the price up to a point where you have to actually return the item for a refund, but it seems odd that the price increases occur on items that habitually sell quickly. That feels to me like there's something (human and/or computer) monitoring prices and adjusting them upward to capitalize on popularity. That's all speculation on my part though. Why certain products show up as only one in stock at a time is anyone's guess, but I reckon Walmart.com has been literally only listing one case at a time for some reason...not knowing what that case assortment break-down is though, it's hard to know for certain. You'd assume there'd be more than one of each in a case though. Maybe Lex is one per case, but WW and Aquaman too? TL;DR: Walmart.com is just all sorts of fucking goofy.

My initial reaction is that it's a cool little vehicle and it brings back memories as one of my favorite part of G.I.Joe vehicles was being able to apply the stickers and put them together. That's why when they had Spy Troops and DTC and even the 25th stuff that came pre-assembled and pre-labeled, it was a little disappointing for me. Now for the actual vehicle itself, I think it looks like crap. It really gives off the Soldier Force vibe due to the stubbiness of it. I think my main complaint is that the tail rotor section is too short or at least seems that way cause of how sharply it get s to the end. The tail fin really should have been extended further back and I think if they did that, it would look much better. For the figure, mine has a really loose right ankle joint. It's not too bad and mine, the helmet can fit really snug on it. You just have to position it right. The hair on the front above his mask is the pressure point that you have to use to hold the helmet in place. Once, it's on, it stays on for me. The figure really gives off the Fortnite vibe to me based on the proportions though. Thankfully he'll just sit in the vehicle so I can over look the feet and if he flies high enough to need a gas mask, then I can understand the oversized gloves. Here's some comparison pics of him with the only Fortnite figure I have as well as with a regular Joe. For the elbow, it was initially very tight and I was scared to move it. I put him in boiled water for a few seconds and the elbow moved very freely. It was stuck and didn't seem to move at all. The key to moving his elbow the first time is to grab it close to the elbow as possible so you can control the force you use. If you try bending by holding the hand, you are just giving yourself more leverage to snap it if it is stuck. When it cooled down, it was tight again, but after looking at it, I see why. It is the design of the elbow hinge. With his arm straight, you can see the bulge sticking up on the middle joint just above the top of his glove cuff in this picture. It's too high and blocks the movement of the arm. After it is moved for the first time, then it's easy to move up to this point. Then you have to be careful to move it more. It feels like it'll snap but hold close to the elbow and move it. You will actually see the plastic on the lower arm flex. Here's a picture after I moved the arm. As for fitting into the vehicle. He can get in quite nicely and he can hold the control stick. The problem though is there is just enough room for his legs cuase the mechanism for the front cannon internally gets in the way. You just have to keep shifting him until you feel the legs go in as far as they will and then he will just fit in there. Here's some pics. Also, he'll fit on the seat better if his pistol is not in the holster as the handle gets in the way of his butt sitting flush to the seat. Pics of the part where his legs go: He'll sit flush to the bottom of the seat if you take out the pistol. Yeah, and the holes on the left side of the vehicle is annoying. I'm debating whether to fill them or not right now.

Unlike some of you that say you get the fortnite vibe from the pilot I don't. I get more a MU shield agent figure from it. I kind of like it in a way. I have to think though if some are resentful because of the way the retro line has gone and so are a bit negative about it automatically and would have loved the figure if these came with the poc and retaliation vehicles instead of the statues that they did come with. Granted that doesn't take much.

Honestly, in hand, I don't overly dislike the figure. He looks kinda cool.
My Fortnite reference was just what came to mind, but you are right, I could have just related it to the Marvel Universe figures too. In terms of the way I feel about this pilot figure, I find that I feel the way I felt when the Spy Troops line came out, compared to the vintage and even the 1997-2001 line of figures. These new Spy Troops had long limbs, larger feet and more articulation. That's kind of how I feel when I look at the new pilot compared to the 25th - 50th figures.
