https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/el...mite-sam-guns/ Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam will lose their rights to bear arms in the updated HBO Max version of the beloved “Looney Tunes” cartoon series, according to a recent New York Times interview with the showrunner. In an interview with the Times, Peter Browngardt, who also serves as the executive producer of “Looney Tunes Cartoons,” said: “We’re not doing guns … But we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.” Yes, we live in a world run by politically correct wusses. |

I don’t know- trigger happy psychotic midgets might not be super appropriate for kids cartoons.

Was all over the media a week or two ago after the debut of the new series on HBO Max. Turns out even Yosemite Sam is losing them.

I can't believe how underrated those figures are. The comic packs and the 6 figs set were the best we had, and we just didn't know that. That was right before GIJoe stopped being a toy and became a desktop collectible. Modern figures are beautiful to look at, but ultimately UNPLAYABLE.

I'm expecting Retro to be OG o-ring style figures, which I'm no longer interested in. What would be nice is if the vehicles use the more recent remolds so they're at least 25th/30th/50th compatible as well not to mention the newer versions were mostly improvements over the originals, Skystriker notwithstanding. I think there could be a hell of a market for the vehicles given the various issues and wear & tear on the 80s ones.
I mean, I can't imagine anyone would want, say, the original version of the Vamps over the 2008+ ones with headlights, more legroom, etc. |

In order to understand the changes they made with regard to guns, the key phrase to keep in mind is "reproducible violence". The idea for decades has been to keep the action kids see outside the realm of what they can accomplish, which is why the Joes used laser guns, Power Rangers don't use martial arts anymore, characters haven't been thrown through glass since the '80s, etc..
So while bombs and scythes are capable of great violence, they're not readily available. Kids don't have access to those things to the same extent as windows or guns (the US has more guns than people!) and that ability to reproduce the violence they see is the key to the decisions they make. Not saying I agree with it, but it's good to know the thinking that fuels it. Quote:

The hand-to-hand stuff is there, but with a lot more visual effects (energy blasts and the like) to reduce the physical contact, and a lot of wire work to have them do 20-foot jumps in slow motion, that sort of thing. The fights are still there, but highly abstracted for the most part.
