Not only does it look like it, but it absolutely would have a dire consequence which would ground the vehicle, if not crash it entirely. Prior to melting the tail fin, this new F.A.N.G. design would certainly experience tail-rotor failure, and the pilot would be forced to attempt entry into auto rotation to land. Ron Rudat’s very first vehicle for G.I. Joe was the 1983 Cobra F.A.N.G., and he knew that the engine exhaust nozzle had to be elevated at a thirty degree angle so as to avoid having the high temperature exhaust melt the radial and thrust elastomeric bearings of the tail rotor assembly. He wasn’t an engineer, but an artist, and yet he had enough sense to do this with the exhaust nozzle of this children's toy vehicle.

Sure, but it does demonstrate a certain level of conscientiousness that's no longer present. That's precisely what made the brand so amazing back then, and why even the revered ME pales in comparison to the original line.

What do you mean? The ME line was a form of the original! Tomahawk, rattler, awe, ram, hiss, snowcat, water mocasin...

Yes, you are correct.
He wasn’t an engineer, but an artist, and yet he had enough sense to do this with the exhaust nozzle of this children's toy vehicle. I know it sounds silly, especially coming from a big Zartan fan, but I think with all fiction there has to be some grounding in reality. The new Fang just looks wrong, like the HAVOK or Devilfish to be fair-I just look at it and say, "How does this NOT kill the pilot?" LoL. Exactly, also with the stunted tail the Fang loses a bit of elegance and dynamism. Sort of like the difference between professional comic art and fan art.

I think he just meant the Fang and was just referring to the new folks at the helm of the brand. I agree that the 25th vehicles were largely improved upon. The success of the Retro HISS and AWE Striker was that they kept it very close to vintage accurate. I'd have been much happier with the 25th Fang-which I felt was an actual improvement over the vintage. They could have put all that new tooling into a new Duke instead. JMHO
