I do feel like sometimes as an adult collector, I can be a little too harsh on Hasbro at times. I try my best to look at it from their standpoint, not mine, but sometimes it's tricky when I don't get what I was hoping they would release. But that Duke is just plain foolish. There's really no justifying it. It's such poor decision making I'm still not convinced it's not a rib. If they'd used the 50th Duke that came with Tombstone, I'd have been disappointed, but at least that would've made some sort of sense to me.

Sorry, rant over. I feel like all of this was said pages ago in this thread. But I'm still pretty butthurt about it... because I am a giant man-child.

Yeah, I pre-ordered a couple Black Series Mandalorian Loyalists figures as soon as they were up back in July and I seemed to get them weeks after everyone else. I did get them eventually--so no harm, no foul--but I was nervous!

I'm pretty sure that BenjaminXavier was being snarky and not commenting on the substance of the point. Jay West said "tone death" instead of the correct idiom, "tone deaf" a couple of times. BenjaminXavier said "moo point" not "moot point."

This video makes me sympathetic to the unenviable position that Mustache is in trying to promote figures that were chosen/designed by his predecessors and I've never criticized his "Jeff Spicoli" mannerisms, but it does not excuse some of the absolutely stupid things he says about the Retro figures he presents in the livestreams.

I've said most of these criticisms before but here we go again:

1. Don't emphasize the artwork/figure connection when they don't match. (Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow)
2. Don't promote these as new, revolutionary designs when they are second and sometimes third releases of figures. (SE, SS, Baroness, Destro, and Lady Jaye, at least)
3. Don't compare the articulation to Classified when the figure you are holding has less articulation that previous versions of the 1/18 character. (Roadblock)
4. Don't brag that your figure comes with a stand, ever. Foot stand/figure stand/battle stand, I don't care what you call them. It's not a selling point.
5. Don't brag about the mold detail on the boots of a figure. (Duke)
6. If you are going to emphasize a weapon that comes with the figure, call it by the correct name. (Calling Duke's .45 Colt 1911 a "Nine.")
7. Don't brag about how cool a pistol is (Duke's .45) when it's not a great mold. That pistol has been around since the early 25th Anniversary line and has really soft details.

I'm sure there are more, but I don't want to work myself up again.

The bottom line is that the only people watching these Fan First livestreams are diehard GI Joe fans, but Mark Maher's sales pitches have always sounded like they're targeted at someone who hasn't seen a GI Joe figure since the original line ended in the early 90s. The people watching know all the minutiae about these toys and already own many of them multiple times over. MM needs to educate himself about Hasbro's own recent history of the line and target his presentation at the people actually watching. With the exception of O-face Duke (which is a steaming pile of irredeemable garbage), I've suggested better, more audience appropriate sales pitches for every single one of the Retro figures on these pages, and i am far from the only HT member to do so.

I just watched the video, all fair points. Sounds like he's more a Transformer guy than a Joe guy. He's still on the hook for these retro offerings, and if the new Chap Mei Fang copter is his work, then I'm not impressed. But I have come to peace with this line not being all it could be.
