I’m just going to join in the pile-on regarding Duke, he looks terrible. People were complaining about the limited ROM in those elbows back in 2007! They should have just used the Kwinn torso/arms, Duke v43 head, and legs from Snake Eyes v54.
CC I don’t really care about since I have the ultimate Retaliation version and I’m good with it. But Duke is one that they never gave a definitive update, and this definitely isn’t it. |

But the reason why so many of us are so angry about wave 3 is because there are very recent, much better builds that Hasbro could use with no modification. The Retro line has been hyped as definitive versions of the characters that match the vintage card art by Mustache himself during these FF events, but the whole line is full of baffling decisions:
Wave 1: Why does Snake Eyes have the wrong head that doesn't match the card art, when the right head came with this very body previously? Why did they use the wrong entire figure for Storm Shadow, when the Ultimate Storm Shadow was available? Wave 2: Why use the Roadblock lower body with poor articulation, and then call it out during the video? Why pay for a new head that is a shrink of the Classified head? Why retool the FANG instead of just rerelease the excellent 25th version? WTF is up with the pilot figure, who again does not match the original box art? Why create a whole new pilot instead of doing a new paint job on the POC Cobra Trooper/Officer that everyone loves? (Other people don't like the parts choices for Scarlett, but i don't mind it at all.) Wave 3: Duke and CC as we've discussed to death today. I'm totally fine with repacking old figures with minimal changes. Snake Eyes (99%), Destro, and Lady Jaye are great Retro figures. But why these choices for the other figures? Hasbro must have its own reasons for these decisions--Mold availability? Cost to produce?--but they are totally opaque to us on the outside and seem to follow no logical thread. I’m totally on board with repacking figures as long as they choose the correct parts. Most people refer to this as a “kit-bash”. They could easily take existing parts from the 50th, Retaliation, POC, 30th, etc. and create very nice builds. That effort does not appear to be present. Example: Duke 50th Flint/Retaliation Firefly torso, waist & arms 50th Duke Head 50th SE/Cobra Trooper upper legs 50th Shipwreck lower legs 25th Duke gear; bandolier, binoculars, backpack Apply ARAH Style Deco

This is what can be done with my build list.
Apply factory paint more ARAH accurate compared to my amateur painting skills and I don’t think you’d see a lot of complaints.

But Hasbro totally ignored what seems like the path of least resistance and instead gave us junk. There must be business/manufacturing reason for these decisions, but we may never know what they are. So instead, combine with Mustache's absolute BS presentations at these FF events, it seems like Hasbro just does not care at all about the 1/18 scale. |

Omg I really thought Duke was a joke like the reveal was gonna come but never did. Wow well I can see that figure killing the line. Absolute garbage.

Well then.
Does anyone have a decent recipe for a no-paint kit-bash classic Duke? I'm thinking maybe Duke v31 (Greatest Battles DVD set) with legs from v24 (comic 2-pack) and some new hands, though I'm not sure the colors are all that close of a match. I was really hoping that I'd get to finally replace my 25th 5-pack Duke but... yeah, not with this retro one. |

Here we have basically two of those three figures single-carded and without the two unique accessories offered in the 3-pack. I don't see how this ends well. This was such an easy landmine to avoid. And this will probably be the wave that finally shows up in my local stores. :(
