I can see how someone would look at it and wonder what it is.
I think we all know it’s unlikely that Hasbro will be releasing any O-Ring figures in the near future.

I haven't been back into the G.Joe world since the late 80s... The classified line brought me back on board (like many others). And on these forums when it was announced that they were bringing out a retro line I was super excited (mind blown). When hasbro brought back the original star wars figures I thought they were doing the same with the older joes. When I saw what they had done I wasn't supper pleased. I know the problems with recreating the older figures, missing molds and the design money going into the classified line, video game, and new snake eyes movie. But I do wish hasbro would bring back classic joe. So maybe this is a response for that. I wish they would bring back the original O rings. I don't think another version of many characters is needed, example being snake eyes over 70 versions so far... again I get everyone has different views though. Even saying that, I'm glad g.i.joe is back and going strong again. I know it is, because when I would ask retail people if they had G.i.joe months ago they would look at me like I was crazy. Now they know it's back and in huge demand. My toys r us even hides them from scalpers. Designing these packages actually has me feeling like i'm collecting them all over again, it's weird, but really fun.

And to be clear I wish hasbro would:
1. keep making the classified line the way they have. It's amazing for a 6" line. I can't wait to actually have Zartan and blowtorch.
2. A modern line like the 25th anniversary line.
3. A classic line recreating the 80s figures and vehicles.
4. Posters of the classified artwork.
5. Cool backgrounds for photography and dioramas.

I'm sure hasbro reads these forums... Maybe start a group that tries to imagine what should be done.

I’m SURE this has been covered, but just wanna say, how the hell cam MOTU, Ghostbusters, SW, predator (probably alien)...all get actual retro figures, but Joe (and us got screwed with) these (albeit cool to see 33/4” on pegs again) modern ones? Rush to retail? Don’t ask don’t tell?

I'm sure Hasbro could decide it'd be worth re-releasing the o-rings down the line at some point. Maybe like these little gift set type things you mocked up. I think it just comes down to opportunity cost. Right now they can use some existing molds to easily create some product in the 4" line while testing the waters in the 6" line. If they release the O-rings in a year or so we'd all re-buy the same characters again so they don't have much to lose taking this route.

These are really cool. I'd suggest softening the drop shadows (looking at examples they never have a crisp shadow). The distance the shadows are offset also makes the figures feel like they're pretty far from the card surface. And it'll better match the lighting on the characters. And maybe get some more gradient in the foe bubble cover. And maybe some more organic reflection and specular. Cool stuff.
