Unrelated to Retro specifically, but does anyone know what kind of tape factories use for keeping accessories affixed to the plastic insert? I'd love to buy some 'over the counter' as it doesn't seem to leech the glue onto accessories the same as other more 'standard issue' tape does.

Walmart preorders are so bizarre (nicest thing I can think to say).

They cancelled two of my Elita Ones tonight. And when I went to check, Elita One was in stock for preorder, so I ordered two more. (She's still in stock for preorder now, hours later.)

I don't understand what triggers them to offer a preorder and then what causes them to cancel it.

After WM support told me on Monday my Wave 1 figs were shipping Tuesday, I got back on the horn with support today - where they told me the preorders were delayed until 24 November.

So I got a bit testy with them, and they'll have someone reach out and call me tomorrow. I don't have high expectations.

Walmart's system makes no sense at all. I've posted about my TF vintage Blaster preorder travails here before. The last email from them two weeks ago pushed shipping back again, to 10/22. Wednesday (10/21), i got an email saying that it was now officially "backordered." Around the same time, i got a "now in stock" email saying Blaster was available. It took a few attempts, but i was able to purchase it as in stock a little later that day. I wasn't willing to risk cancelling the original preorder until i actually received a shipping notification for the new purchase. Thursday morning, I received the shipment notification and logged into my account to cancel the original preorder. Guess what--it shipped at the same time as the new purchase in the middle of the night Wed/Thurs. Friday morning, i still have not actually received a shipment email on that preorder, but i put in for a return/refund.

As i have said many times here before, these are multi-billion dollar companies (WM, Target, Hasbro). They should have all this stuff figured out.

Going to backordered seems to be a sign you're going to get it. My Retro vehicles that shipped (4 HISS and 2 AWE) all went to backordered briefly before stealth shipping (emails from Walmart came after they were delivered in one case).

The delayed - check back later status is the dangerous one.

Walmart is such a large company that people within the same division cannot work things out. WM has a special Fanfest event selling collector preorders. However the people organizing the event are not in charge of logistics or fulfillment so it ends up in a mess. The head of .Com should oversee this, but I expect he is busier shipping toilet paper around to be bothered by this. Hasbro should make a fuss though. Advocating for their customers is a good idea no?

My understanding from some rumors and other stories is that there was a bit of a fuss made about how Walmart.com handled some Star Wars and Ghostbusters preorders and that lead to the whole creation of that collectible subsite that we all used to order the Retro figures day one. It doesn't seem to have helped much.

Weirdly, Target did the same thing shortly after Cobra Island launched, but their collectible subpage is even less developed.

I don't understand why preordering is such a hard concept, but whatever. I'm only sort of collecting Retro, Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom Transformers and Black Series. My main interests now are Classified and Masterpiece TFers and Walmart isn't involved in any of that (although, sadly, Target is).
