Can we talk about the Fang pilot a bit? At pulse con, they said he’s all new tooling, which appears true (some have suggested he uses MU parts, but that doesn’t appear to be the case). But it seems he has a thigh cut and NO leg screw. So the build appears to have MU style hips. Does it make sense to tool a new figure on a new platform? Seems like that would be a sign that more newly tooled figures are coming. But at the same time, if that’s an investment being made- why use it on a troop builder drive and not a marquee character like Scarlett? Time constraints, maybe (Scarlett is out now, fang won’t be out until next year)
Thoughts? Incites, even? I sure hope they do not convert this line into an MU styled figure build line. I will lose interest in a heartbeat. I still think there is much value in the ME Joe builds and parts. Hopefully, they will use them, especially as they seem to be trying to save money with this line.

Thoughts? Incites, even? All right!!! You all got me worked up again about the mustache!!!! I'm taking a deep breath and giving myself a 1 hour break from the Tank to cool down. I'll come back more positive.

Thoughts? Incites, even? Also: Yeah, the "figgers" pronunciation bothers me as well.

I saw Snake Eyes and some HISS tanks in New Hampshire over the weekend. Didn't even realize this was a thing because of all the attention the 6" line is getting. I'll probably be passing on most of it unless there's a clear improvement over what I've already got, but it's nice to see something 1:18 at Walmart. Or really much of anything at Walmart. Not that I particularly want to spend much time there.

Thoughts? Incites, even? With the design styling differences (even from other newly tooled retro parts) perhaps he is all new - but was originally meant for something else? |

I don't care for the Fang pilot's build at all. The body is boxy (maybe that's not the right word?), limb proportions are off, and the articulation in the thighs just plain looks bad. If that's the direction they are headed with all their new tooling I'd say that's a very bad thing.
Also: Yeah, the "figgers" pronunciation bothers me as well.

Those MU style hips are a death sentence for the Joe line if they are adopted. Back in 2010 or so, those kind of hips were generally sufficient as Hasbro used sturdier plastic. But for the past 5 years or so, the MU figures have been DOA after 5 minutes of kids playtime. The leg plastic is too soft and they pop right off. Reattachment stretches out the plastic which leads to a rapid downward spiral.
I hope someone sees this and rights the ship! Those his are fine for ML as the figures are much larger and there is more plastic. They are no bueno for Joe! |
