I suspect that many if us are guilty of this. Find that elusive figure, and instantly hunt for the next one, without stopping and appreciating what we have. It's kind if sad really.

lol Both. I found Scarlett at the 4th store I visited, but only because I was lucky, bought it and then went on to a 5th store out of habit. As I was driving to that 5th store, it suddenly occurred to me I was heading to another store to look for a thing I JUST FUCKING FOUND! I was on autopilot! Worse still, finding that fucking thing brought me very little joy...I should've been ecstatic or at least relieved I found it, but instead it was more like a task completed. A box checked. This caused me to think about my own motivations, the state of the toy collecting hobby/habit and collecting toys in general. I decided enough was enough.

Saw one of the end cap thing with four Snake-Eyes in Lawton, OK a couple days ago. Duncan OK had a wave 2 case with a Scarlett still on pegs (got her) and three HISS tanks. Might've got a HISS but damn if that store didn't have the new SW Vintage wave (one Jedi Luke, two Chirrut Imwe) also. I know one store in the area probably still has a case or two of AWE Strikers that may or may not have been put out by now (they were on a top shelf earlier this week).

I think you might be right. You are probably in this for the wrong reasons and if your hobby is becoming a stresser than it might be best to move on. For me personally I enjoy the hunt, it's one of my favorite parts of this hobby. Be it new toys or vintage toys I generally enjoy the search. There are times when things can get a bit frustrating but most days this hobby has been very rewarding over the bast 20 years that I have been doing this as an "adult".

I've only seen AWE Strikers too. The one I went to had 8 but was putting them out 2 at a time. I had to asj the lady and she pulled it out for me as the 2 on the floor were bought by one person before I was there. She even asked if I wanted both but I only wanted one.

Thus sums it up for me as well. I am not a hard-core collector of anything though. This retro line will be the first Joes I've owned since being a kid in the late 80's. Previous to this I collected the Indiana Jones line in 2008 and Star Wars in the mid 90's. I have a two year old son now so part of the motivation is being able to enjoy these with him once he's old enough.

Yep. It isn't even a "stresser" so much as a wtf am I doing!? Hunting used to be fun. Collecting and playing with the toys used to be fun. Now though, when it's a major endeavor just to find the fucking thing in the first place, how fun is that? Running into a scalper actively researching the ebay values of a Classified Red Ninja in a Target aisle was an eye-opener for me. Toys are now attracting the career scalpers who don't give a shit about the product itself beyond its secondary market value. These are the same fucks who indiscriminately buy up Air Jordans and game systems and whatever else that's "in demand". These turds create artificial shortages and actively increase the demand. Back in the old days--not even 5 years ago--Joe collectors, and toy collectors in general, really didn't have to deal with that shit so much. It's a whole new ballgame, and one I'm not willing to play.
Yeah, when my son was into toys it was terrific going shopping and playing together. I feel bad for kids (and their parents) right now trying to find toys. Good luck with that!

I guess thats the joy of knowing I can only afford 1 or 2 new figures. When I find the one I'm looking for, I get so happy that happiness lasts for days! Then comes rearranging my display case and that brings more joy as I look at past figures and think about how good I have it to own what I have. Toy collecting brings me a constant cycle of joy.

Stores just keep decreasing the size of their toy aisles. Used to be like 4 action figure aisles now there are two. Three if you count gimmicky toys and Pokemon. Walmart has one and a half action figure aisles, 2 lego aisles, 4 girls aisles and an RC aisle. Target generally has 2 and a half figure aisles but there you go with Pokemon and blind boxes. Heck Meijer only has one. Gone are the days of 20 pegs of Joes and two whole aisles dedicated to Star Wars. I miss Toys R Us even though they rarely had shit in their last few years.

I guess I’ve always collected what I love, ignored the rest, displayed the best. Everything else is for the totes of this world (which you will fine NONE of in my house).
