I'm really mixed on the retro. I was fortunate enough to get a lot of it due to doing every odd job a kid at 10 could do. Lotsa lawns, stacking wood, hauling hay. Holy shit!! So worth it though. I REALLY wanna see ME on original cards and vehicle boxes. My childhood alarm is going off like crazy. I just love GIJOE so much. If I had a time machine, I'd take us all back to 1982. Dont forget tour wallets and purses guys and gals. Hopefully we will get a movie trailer and pics for the retro and movie line soon. Before we know it we will all be locked and loaded to get our beloved JOES with a passion.
Everyone be safe and keep healthy. GIJOE is coming and I dont want any of us 6 feet under due to this COVID-19 crap and missing this relaunch. Yo JOE!! See you all back here at HISTANK central soon.

Hopefully it meets your expectations. For me, I'm a bit older and still kick myself all these years because I gave all mine away because I hit middle school (in'87) and for some reason when that happens whatever you did in 6th grade was no longer cool and kids let you know it.

I hope they go with the 1983-on "swivel arm battle grip" design, because if they go with the '82 straight-arm figure design I'm not getting any of them. That original design was crap; the articulation was poor, and the thumbs kept breaking off in many cases - terrible. I had some of these as a kid, and felt they were - overall - garbage.

And when there was any tension on the o ring, the legs had tension. An ME figure can have loose legs out of the package. The fact that my '84 Action Force Duke has an intact o ring still in package is a testament to O-rings longevity removed from outside factors. Now, watch it be broken next time I look at it...

The anticipation of this retro release is wearing on me a little. I am really eager to see what exactly Hasbro has planned. Ideally I want 3.75" o-ring Joes but would be happy with a quality 4" ME figure. If they are planning an o-ring Joe at a fairly high price point then I am curious to see if the design is going to be retooled - $12.93 seems expensive for a run of the mill 3.75" figure though. I am sure that some of that expense will go into the packaging of the figure and perhaps using a better quality plastic even if keeping the original design.
I know next to nothing about the Star Wars vintage line to compare it with the Hasbro Retro collection. It does look like the retro collection figures are essentially remakes of the original line but with the nicer vintage packaging/card backs. For those star wars collectors does that seem like a correct assumption? I still plan on supporting this line as long as it is 3.75/4" and am also looking forward to seeing the Hiss and Awe Striker. I am trying my best to stop my vintage collecting until I see what is being released here but since this news leaked over a month ago we have really gotten nothing. I still go back to the rumors at the Nuremberg toy show about the Joe line to wonder if there was anything to them. I did just watch a walk through video of the toyshow and although I did not see any Joes I did see a fortnite display which people were speculating caused confusion with the return of GI Joe. 16:20 is where the Fortnite display is shown and to me it looks nothing like GI Joe: Last edited by HitandRun; 04-18-2020 at 02:48 PM.. |

If these are indeed a similar line, I'll only be grabbing them if theyre equal or improved remakes.

When I see the comparisons between the Star wars retro collection with the originals it give me a lot of hope for the GI Joe retro line.
Take a look at the comparisons here: "Everything You Need To Know About The Retro Collection" https://jedibusiness.com/NewsDetails?id=23144

Truth be told, the potential parallels between the SW retro and these has me both excited and troubled at once. I've already mentioned why I like the idea repeatedly, so I'll skip doing that yet again, but what worries me is that the Star Wars figures are nearly identical... but what differences there are actually seem to make them inferior to the originals. This has some side by sides:
