But I will keep poking on this issue. These 6" $20 collector lines are not kid's toys. They are too expensive, too fragile, and usually include characters or lines that kids probably haven't even heard of.

They are much closer to figurines (which adults have always collected) than toys.
Nah, they're toys. They feel like toys, they do toy things, they put them in the toy aisle and they sell them as toys. Action figures and dolls are toys because they're articulated for play. Figurines are little statues and not really all that fun to play with. The line get's blurred though. Remember green army men? As boring as shoe-shopping, yet they're considered toys.

Point is, there's no point in asking why adults buy any toy because there really isn't a "good" reason.

They don't have set release dates on most toys, toy departments typically put out whatever they get when it arrives or when they do toy section refreshes. Random appearing toys is pretty common at retail now, but it usually never mattered as we usually didn't have release dates assigned to them, typically it's done like "releases in fall" or a general month is given.

Partially why the Target release was awkward, you don't usually have specific dates on toys, they just dump whatever is in the back when they can.

The target market is the adult collectors really with this style of 6", but as for being fragile, not really, if anything these are much more sturdy than the modern 3, 3/4 and 4" lines. Those things are insanely fragile, and the more articulation they added the easier they would break, and the softer the plastic has gotten over the years. Frankly the classified line has been solid in how playable they are, nice and sturdy these things are. Compared to the smaller scale, frankly these are more sturdy feeling. The price point and the folks buying these are the adults right now clearly though.

I suddenly keep seeing people claim this lately about how ME Joes explode into fine powder if you look at them the wrong way. Bologna. I have kids and nephews who have had and played with ME Joes for years. I have only had two parts break: 25th Stalker's hand and Retaliation Lady Jaye's leg. On the MU front they've had She-Hulk's stupid-ass bicep swivel break off and one other figure's torso popped open. By comparison, how many of us had o-ring Joes lose thumbs, break off knee pins, lose crotch pieces, etc.?

The ME Joes in circulation around me have been battle-tested and are enduring as well as you can expect. Now if you want to talk about wobbly hips, the 25th Anniversary figures are in need of frequent correction. But other than that these ME figs are holding their own and the kids love them.

Marvel Legends figures feel like they are made of glass. My ME 3.75" Joes are much sturdier than my Scarlett Witch, Black Widows, Danvers Ms. Marvel, etc.

If you "play" with modern 6" figures (Classified or MOTUC or Legends or whatever) for any length of time, I am pretty confident the joints will become incredibly floppy. They may not break, but they aren't made to be constantly re-posed. I hope I'm wrong. Most of my collecting experience is with manipulating MOTUC.

Oh I don't know how about support this line in the hopes that the sales will lead to additional waves and hopefully some of the concept vault releases. If sales are strong enough perhaps even a full retail release instead of a Walmart exclusive.

I for one am happy that it's POC style figures. That was the best Joe product ever produced period. That ultimate Snake Eyes is one of the best bucks made to date and awesome for custom fodder. If you want new 4 inch product support the line at retail. Actually BUY IT AT RETAIL. Do not wait for it to go to clearance. It seems like Hasbro has their paint app problem fixed (50th line was terrible) by what I am seeing in the Star Wars line, so that is a huge plus. Hopefully the quality of plastic is also better than the 50th as well. I hope they release more Vipers and Troopers (eBay prices are nuts on the troop builders). I always need more ( I really have a problem LOL!)
I for one am glad to have 4 inch Joe back at retail. Some of the 6 inch stuff is cool and I have purchased all of the released stuff so far but it will take up a large amount of space when displaying not to mention my heart will always be more geared to the 4 inch size.

I agree on the POC style molds figures for the next waves of the retro line...

Well said!!! I look at the first 3 of this line to be good for custom fodder. I hope they don't mess up Scarlett,RB and, Duke. I am holding my excitement or disappointment until I see those figures. Then I can say whether this line is a pass or fail.

Your examples are stupid. We're not talking about completely new figures that are different takes on existing characters. We're talking about straight re-releases of figures that have been out for years. If you want to own 7 or 8 of the same exact Storm Shadow figure that's cool, brah, but it's just silly to me.

I do. Excessive army-building is weird.

Yeah, I'm actually more excited about the vehicles than the figures. Especially the HISS re-release with that SWEET-ASS updated driver.

I buy them because I like them. They make me happy. I gave up trying to figure out why years ago.
