For those asking so much on why badder buying or trying to get these figures, my reason is because this is the first retail release Hasbro is making in YEARS, and when they came with the 25th anniversary line, I totally skipped them and later years I started hunting them on eBay... So I don't want that to happen me again. Most of these rereleased Figures are not even at good prices on eBay so there is plenty of reason for me to collect this line.

I hate to jump on you bro cuz everybody's entitled to their own opinion. Yep, I'm just honest about it and don't try to act like there's some deeper rationale to my collecting than "because I want to." Some want to act like these are "serious collectibles" or some shit and justify it as something more than it is, but the truth is that they're kid's toys and we are adults who buy kid's toys. They're not really worth keeping on the card as a display piece cause the figures don't even match.

As openers I suppose they're good but I gotta believe, as amazing as these renditions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are, (arguably the best ever) most of us have had several opportunities to grab them over the years.

I could understand genuine excitement for actual repro figures on repro cards, like they just did with Star Wars. And I can also understand the appeal of having an updated figure but the vintage card, but we got all of those already with the 25th and on.

So what's the appeal to these? Just the fact that they're "new" 3 3/4 Joes?

For me, overall, is just seeing GIJoe back on the shelf. I am hoping that with this line (has it ever officially been called "Retro?") and the Snake Eyes movie that we will have a few more years of good GIJoe products on the shelves.

I get that these are just updated paint schemes on existing existing molds, but the figures that have been released thus far represent the best molds to date (not so much for Crank Case, but at least it's an update).

As a customizer, I don't mind buying the same figures I already have if for anything for custom fodder. In the case of these figures, it will be more like using the new, updated paint schemes as my "ultimate" figures and moving the 50th figures to the fodder bin.

Like Zap said, I am REALLY hoping for updated versions of Duke and Scarlett. Duke should be a no-brainer, Resolute head on DOTD Flint body. Scarlett on the other hand needs a new headsculpt, IMHO. I think the Resolute body is a pretty good update to Scarlett and will look really good in classic ARAH colors.

So, here's my fingers cross that Hasbro can pick the best modern sculpts for the carded figures with classic ARAH color schemes. I'm not giving the vehicle pack-in figures the same hope as they seem to have already dropped the ball on Crank Case when they could have just went entirely with 50th Chuckles mold, unless there was some sort of tie up using these legs/mold for the Snake Eyes figure.

Couldn't care less if they are reissues. I'm going to enjoy watching my kids open Joes at Christmas that are packaged like the ones I had when I was a kid.

Ok, again I can get that. Some shit does get old quick. Personally I try not to bitch to much but it does happen time to time. I have been doing this for a hell of a long time and I have learned tomorrow is another day, but there is always days where you just get irked. The target sell out irked me that day. The way I equate it though is like going to have a bowl of cereal only to realize you're low on milk then you run out to Target to grab a gallon and they are out, now you really got a craving for some cereal so you now you're going to have to make another stop, instantly irked. But you either go looking for more milk or you eat pop tarts instead. I since just said fuck it I get or I don't but I damn well won't be grabbing them from a scalper so pop tarts it is.

Yeah, I get that. I should probably dial it back a bit, but I like to remind folks just what exactly they're getting so frustrated/angry/mean/weird about. Nothing we say or do, or that Hasbro/walmart/target says or does, is gonna change the fact we're acting goofy over kid's toys. I'd of course much rather see people getting excited and expressing joy over this stuff--and you'll notice I never act like an asshole to anyone who's happy about some new toy--but I see precious little of that these days. And that sucks.

It's a frustrating hobby nowadays, even if the product is technically far superior to what it used to be. I get that its a "first world problem" or whatever, but if you care about something, it doesn't feel great to have the people in charge of it seem to care much less.

Nice! Makes me a bit sad all over again that my son is done with toys. On the plus side, he's big enough to mow the lawn and do other forms of menial labor now, so it ain't all bad.
