Because they, like Target and Amazon, have gone down the rabbit hole of letting 3rd-party jackasses sell on their platform. You have to filter by retailer to clean up your search results so that only "walmart.com" items are displayed...and right now only SS is still showing in the search results.

Yup yup yup a million times to both the darker colored "Ultimate" Cobra Commander, and a DotD Duke with Renegades head. These are EXACTLY what I'm looking for!
POC Stalker's body is perfect for Stalker, but I don't know if it's the army builder body everyone's looking for. I'm too lazy to look back, but there was talk earlier to put out a Grunt figure using the POC Cobra trooper body, and I think that might be the best option for a regular troop (or OG13) release. Could you imagine an updated 50th Stinger Driver using the POC Cobra build?! Jason |

Yeah. 2009 Baroness is still 25th. I wish they would have used Pythona's torso for her. Or the one they used for Dr. Biggles-Jones ( if it's not the same as Pythona's.) Hopefully, Scarlett will use that Pythona torso if they are not going to sculpt anything new.
Please do not use that 50th CO/Shooter torso for the next female figure. Please never use that again. It's so frail, and out of proportion. Plus there is no elbow ROM. I know it's more PC, but that torso is just terrible. Jason |

Serious question....
What's generating the interest in these for you? They're not really worth keeping on the card as a display piece cause the figures don't even match. As openers I suppose they're good but I gotta believe, as amazing as these renditions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are, (arguably the best ever) most of us have had several opportunities to grab them over the years. I could understand genuine excitement for actual repro figures on repro cards, like they just did with Star Wars. And I can also understand the appeal of having an updated figure but the vintage card, but we got all of those already with the 25th and on. So what's the appeal to these? Just the fact that they're "new" 3 3/4 Joes? |

I'm collecting them because they're new ME joes. I want the vehicles, and I'll get Baroness for the better face painting. I already have SE and SS, but I've got them on pre-order (with the otherS) to see them in hand and compare to my 50th versions. If I don't want those two, i'll return them.
Honestly I'm looking forward to the new face painting the most. If it works as good on 4" figs as it does on 6" figs, i'll re-buy any human faced figures they put out (within reason) |

Just the fact that they're "new" 3 3/4 Joes? The trouble in my specific case is that I've already spent years scrounging up the best versions of each character for them so Hasbro needs to show me something new or I'm personally not going to have any reason to buy. I stopped customizing (I used to build "ultimates" for Santa to leave in the kids' stockings) and sold off batches of fodder so I won't even be buying these figures for fodder like I would have just a couple of years ago. I'm winding down. What this really is is a great opportunity for us to tell the adults we know who played with Joes as kids, have young kids of their own, but don't collect toys at all that an opportunity is coming for them to buy updated Joes for their kids. Not being collectors, they won't know this is coming (like me, I caught the tail end of Retaliation pegwarmers and missed everything else until the 50th figs...but I had to outrun scalpers for all of those). Getting a new wave of kids and parents into the game would be a good thing for all involved, especially the actual kids.

Well, what's the appeal to any of this shit? I mean, we're adults buying kid's toys. Wtf is up with that? This is like when Bill Moyers asked Joe Campbell if mythology was about finding "the meaning of life." And Campbell replied (to paraphrase), "...what meaning? There is no meaning. That's a question with no answer. Better to concentrate on what really matters, the here and the now. These stories are about the experience of being alive."
I didn't ask "Why do you collect GI Joe toys?" I'm specifically interested in why there seems to be so much interest in what's essentially a handful of re-released figures that have seen plenty of releases. I understand the hype for Classified. It's brand new. It's exciting. It's different. And I even understand why so many collectors DISLIKE Classified. But this small "retro" collection baffles me cause it seems like it's nothing anybody wanted. It's ME figures on mismatched vintage art. Did anyone want that? Yet, there are tons of people that seem very eager to buy them. |
