If you were 10 yes old in 2008, would this not be a Retro line to you? Just food for thought.

So did they make it that clear for the Star Wars Retro fans? I was basically going by a pattern that the Retro lines in the other brands were using. Now if the Star Wars Retro line was figures they released during Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones then I would assume that for GI Joe Retro would mean figures they did 10 - 12 years ago.

Yep, it's all relative and subject to personal perspective. Many of us are just old farts with the notion of "retro" residing some 40 years in the past. A shit-ton of kids have come along & grown up since then. For them, retro is just a decade or two ago. Like, I actually not only feel nostalgia for the ARAH-era in the 80s, but for the "nuskulpt" era of the early-aughts AND the 25th era from just a decade ago. It's sorta crazy to think about and makes me feel fucking ancient.

As it relates to branding, that distinction is important. If we ignore it, it’s us assigning that value and not Hasbro, and we are responsible for the disappointment associated with our own erroneous assumptions. The only other official “retro” line I’m aware of is Marvel Legends Retro, which are 6” Modern figures on retro cards, which is arguably closer to what Joe Retro is than the SW line. And for those of you tired of seeing me say it, I’ll stop once the message gets through.

They turned the line into Star Wars The Vintage Collection. The only items I'm really interested in with the line so far are the new Retro H.I.S.S. Tank and the A.W.E. Striker since they have new figures in them. I'm curious what we get for wave 2 with the Roadblock and Scarlett figures.

This line is technically retro to me. I remember finding the original PoC release of this new Snake Eyes at Fleet Farm when I was 9. So yes this is a nostalgic retro line.

if black major. letal customs and Red laser can make o-ring figures with eaze. then I dont see the problem with hasbro being able to make them. I dont think its an excuse that the molds were destroyed when many 3rd party people are making them with eaze. and even getting new releases regulary on top of that. all u have to do is go to black major instagram he always has new figures and paint apps every few months it seems.
I'm disappointed with Hasbro, but not mad. I have places to go to get brand-new O ring goodness. I just, REALLY wanted brand-new figures that looked like the originals that I wouldn't be afraid of breaking. Or to keep in a package that really does look like the ones from my childhood. |

personally -I am glad they are not o-ring. A Joe 4" line with similar attributes to the SW Vintage collection is awesome to me. I did not pre-order any - but may pick them up in stores. Will be interested to see what RB and Scarlett bring. Could use new Renegades RB head? Can Scarlett have fatigue trousers instead of leotard and knee high boots? I doubt it - I bet these are going to be cartoon series based...they keep dropping more episodes on YouTube and the HISS and Awe Strikers were used in practically every one... LOVE the old school boxes though. I used to anger my parents so much around Christmas time because I knew the sizes of the vehicle boxes and where the figure window was on each so I could tell them what was in each package.
