The Classified redesigns are definitely getting huge pushback from the Joe collecting community. They are simply selling because people have no other option. People desperately want 6-inch Joes because it's the hot scale in action figures right now. They have no choice but to buy what's offered. But I would have to roll my eyes at anyone who claimed the 6-inch figures would not be more popular and sell better if they were upscaled classic designs. It's also way too early to tell what will pegwarm as they have just hit retail this month.

Good eye. I personally think what we get won't quite be what we've seen in pre-production photos. It all feels rushed and photoshop-y. Anyone remember how 50th Chuckles (FOE Striker) had Renegades Duke/dollar store Shipwreck legs in pre-prod photos, but he ended up with Ultimate SE legs? Well, this feels like that. Crankcase is made out of different bits depending on which photo you look at and that old AWE Striker roll cage is probably just because they photo-shopped shit together/used the old roll cage for a product mock-up. Time will tell, I reckon.

Im glad they went with ME figures with mostly POC or later parts!!! Again, the failure of the correct SE head, non use of the Ultimate SS build are real head scratchers. I really hope this Mark dude who put these builds together looks at the customs on this site. Please do not screw up Scarlett, RB, and Duke!!!

The AWE is out of the question. I won’t buy multiples of Joe vehicles, not even for packaging. I will for Cobra, but I think I have 3 tanks as it is. So I don’t know.

I don't need any encouragement about the popularity of G.I. Joe. In my heart and from personal experience, I know the line was popular through every release up through the 50th and the club. I know by the numbers the eBay prices have soared on anything Joe since the line went on hiatus. I also know that any relaunch of a substantially popular 1980s toy line has been popular, e.g. He-Man, Thundercats, TMNT (Hasbro's missing a big bet by not relaunching M.A.S.K.).
What I want is encouragement that Hasbro understands the Joe brand enough to be faithful to what came before and to think of new ways to expand on the brand. They understood that all the way through 50th which did smart rereleases, filled in major holes in the collection and did new characters that fit into the mythos well enough. But Hasbro has shown to me this year that whoever's running their brand doesn't get it. No one with any emotional attachment to the classic line could approve the monstrous Classified designs, especially without first giving us classic, definitive versions of those characters in the new scale. And this new retro line isn't particularly imaginative so far. They're rereleasing or repainting three figures already released recently in the 50th line. The SS is off the mark as a match for the card art. The vehicles are not the most exciting choices possible. The Retro cards don't nail the classic design on the nose the way Star Wars TVC still does. The vehicle box art and the updated vehicle drivers are more in line with what fans want though. So, ultimately, G.I. Joe is still an action figure brand being handled worse than all of Hasbro's other ones. Everything else seems to be putting out many truly exciting releases for their fans. This one, not so much. I agree that they missed the boat, I’m was only buying the retro line if it was O-ring vintage style Joes. So I’m mildly disappointed as well but some here are happy and I’m very happy for them. A rising tide lifts all boats. |

Hasbro should put the OG 13 on Haslab, and add a character from 1984 for every stretch goal. |
