Hahaha, yeah, that's understandable. The Jazwares thread in particular was definitely a let down, but at the end of it all, I can still say I had a good time with it until it was revealed to be a false alarm.

You actually think they'd answer? It's Hasbro policy to disavow knowledge of any product that hasn't been solicited or revealed, even if they know everyone has seen the leaks. With nothing but some codename listings there's no way in hell they'd talk about that product until they had a press release ready.

I am having a lot of fun with the speculation. Unlike the Jazwares hype, we have a better idea what we might be dealing with here. This is a Hasbro-produced "retro" line. We know (about) how they are handing this based on the retro SW, TF, and GB lines.
My favorite speculation is about whether or not they still have vintage molds. This would be a big improvement over the SW and GB lines. As of the '09 JocCon, we know that Hasbro destroyed a lot of vintage tooling, BUT, this was tooling that was either damaged or unused since the vintage line. It was getting to the point that in order to locate, refurbish, repair, or find replacement parts for old tooling, it would be more cost effective to remake it from scratch. HOWEVER, there seems to have been a movie-year last-push effort to find vintage molds worth saving. The MMS, SNAKE armor, Outpost Defender...all unseen since the vintage run. Then the '10 con exclusives were o-ring, and they were a big mix of tooling we'd seen in the 2000s, with a little bit of new stuff thrown in. Hasbro was taking care of what they had...but that was a decade ago. A lot could have changed since then. But there's also the matter of Funskool having molds... ALSO 2022 is the 40th anniversary of ARAH. This could be a test run for an anniversary line. Or not. I just love the speculation Last edited by xasonnex; 03-18-2020 at 08:30 PM.. |

I thought most of the tooling that was lost, destroyed or thrown at the bottom of the ocean with Bin Laden was vehicles and playsets.

Aside from my own memory, this is my main source for saying Hasbro didn't destroy everything at once. This was from '09, and like I said, the 2010 con exclusives were o-ring figures, so Hasbro obviously still had some a year later. But even that was a decade ago. Like I said, a lot could have changed in 10 years. |

Though if that's the case, it makes me wonder why they didn't do more of the re paints in the early 2000's. We did get a lot, but nowhere near what we could've, and the ones that were used got a TON of use, like the '84 Firefly and Big Ben. I think I'm going to spend a bit of time this evening and tomorrow and compile a list of molds that were still in use from 97-10. |

I am so hoping this is ME 2.0 like the Vintage Collection is to Star Wars

I actually like New Sculpt. They feel more like toys than Modern.

While possible that Hasbro might have a few remnants circa 2009/10, I can't imagine they'd still bother with them at this point given shifts in Hasbro's production chains. I'm also crossing NuSculpt out as well because aside from a couple figures, I don't feel their designs are retro enough for the target market for these. Again, I feel we'll either get a really nifty set of recast 0-ring figures...or Late ME Ultimate figures on classic cardbacks. Again, given trends with other brands, I'm apt to lean more to some recast o-ring figures (which, again, have enormous potential in restoring some lost favorites) We'll find out SDCC I guess.
