I just wouldn't be shocked if they aren't. And there some clues from the assortments and such that suggest they might not be. But I still think that is what they will end up as.

What other "retro" lines are there? I'm aware of Star Wars, but it also wouldn't make sense to make them modern sculpts as the Vintage Line is already doing that. And for emphasis, there are two separate lines in Star Wars, Retro and the Vintage Collection. For our purposes, the terms "vintage" and "retro" should not be used interchangeably.

The only other Hasbro "retro" line I'm aware of are Marvel Legends Retro, which are very much modern sculpt figures on Toy Biz retro cards.

That being said, I expect these to be o-rings. I just don't know about the plethora of retro lines that everyone keeps referencing.

The Star Wars retro line was only Walmart exclusive for retail stores. They were also available online at Dorkside and the like. The Case assortments also have nothing to do with them being new, just characters selected to coincide with Snake Eyes. So I’m betting we’re right about it being o ring.

Transformers and Ghostbusters, both of which are vintage reissues and also Walmart exclusive just like the Star Wars retro line and this Joe line.

It is my understanding that both those lines, certainly Ghostbusters, are branded as "Classics", not "Retro".

I'm in the don't-want-a-pure-rehash camp. I'd prefer updates with retooling (like maybe having the ball-joint neck for pre-1985 figures), or, better yet, ultimate-version reimaginings of classic figures.

Truth be told, I think original Roadblock looks kind of scrawny, and original Storm Shadow's headsculpt kind of lame...

It's the Star Wars Vintage line, which has been fairly successful for Hasbro, that has given me some hope that we might see a companion 3.75" line to Classified, whether its this Retro line or not.

The Star Wars Retro line has only been a timed exclusive with Walmart. After a certain amount of time, I believe they become available to other retailers. Actually, the first wave was a timed exclusive for Target. The second wave is a Walmart timed exclusive.

I think the Retro Joe line will likely follow that pattern a bit. Timed exclusive for WM but will become available elsewhere in time.

But it's not the same thing. That's the point.

"Retro" as branding as been used twice, for two lines that are completely different.

The third line may prove to be consistent with the Star Wars Retro, but the use of term itself does not allow us to decisively draw that conclusion.

A "Classics" branding may serve the purpose of evidence that HAsbro is committing to the idea of vintage repros, but that's all it can be used to determine at present.

In the end, it might all be the same, but the available evidence isn't enough to make that claim.
