Realistically, calling them 'carded' figures is not really fair. These are more like 'glued to heavyweight paper'. I don't see how even a box would keep them from bending.

Ironically, while my retro figures arrived in great shape the Stalker and Xamot I got from ebay were damaged in transit.

That's something you just reminded me of...I know in recent years other toy companies cards have started to separate from the bubble over time because of the inferior glue dissolving, I was told by Hasbro collectors it's happening to them too. I'm wondering if this flimsy cardstock is going to help the bubbles separate sooner, even my ME retro line fresh from the cases bought in person start to curl up

Well I got home to three packages out front. All three came from FL. Each in their own packaging. Two in plastic no padding. GH and Destro. GH is s better than Destro.
Destro card is creased / bent but not folded and the bubble is crushed. GH has creased / bent card but the bubble is OK. The third was the Baroness, in a padded envelope. Out of all of them this is the best day be where the bubble is good, the card will s slightly warped with a small tear at the top. So out of six figures received in two days, none came in a box and none came through undamaged in some way. |

I just opened a Retro Card GH and replaced the original Classified GH in my display. Shipping and cardboard back issues aside, this is a great GH figure. fits right in and to me looks better than the first one. Especially with Spirit, BBQ, Duke, Snake, Flint, HA Roadblock all put close together. Once I get another Retro LJ, this will look really nice and, in my opinion, classically modern.

Mine was shipped in TONS of bubble wrap, big roomy box. Nice shape, probably a C-7.5.

This morning on Full Force podcast the first thing they talked about was the retro card backs being delivered damaged in high frequency. Even took some images from this thread and featured them on their show. Pretty much everyone in the chat had damaged retro card backs. GI Joe team most likely knows the situation but I'm not sure if Hasbro is going to let them address the issue. Here are the 5 figures that arrived for me on Friday. All in bags and all with bent cards. I ended up returning 2 to Walmart and opening the rest.
I opened one of my Gung Hos and dropping the other one off at the post office. Fortunately Walmart doesn't require you to go to UPS like Amazon. You can just print the label and stick it in a mail box. |

I just took a closer look at the carded Baroness I was sent. I think this is a unique one.
The paper-thin card is actually tucked inside the bubble on the corner. This has nothing to do with shipping. But poor quality control by Hasbro. How does this even get sent out to the public? It was made like this at the factory. I work in manufacturing and know things are inspected before they go out. These folks just don't give a fuck.
