I was a fan of the comic book packs figures - some of their execution was lacking though. I do hope the Retro Line figs are of a better quality than the comic book packs (no frankensteining/reusing molds, shrunken heads, better plastic (assuming they will be O-ring releases) etc). With the price point being around 13 dollars I am damn curious to see what these figures actually end up looking like.

Until I see a picture of a figure from this line I refuse to buy into the hype just to be let down again.

This. I just finished repairing my original Stalker from when I was a kid, which makes me imune to retro-hype. This line better be way more than just a cash-grab, and way more available than Hasbro Pulse. Being an overseas fan is already hard enough as it is.

Makes sense for Pulse to do a sale next week of the retro Snake-Eyes to coincide with the new comic launch to generate cross promotion. It will be a real shame if the movie is pushed back again but it seems highly unlikely that people will be going to theaters again in October.

Wouldn’t it be easiest for Hasbro to just tool down the 6” to 4”. I don’t know how it works but I can see them making the Classified figures scaled down with retro packaging. I would be all over this.

My instinct says that if they have to remake molds, there really isn't much reason to NOT remake the v2. It's the most iconic look for the figure, one of the most popular figures from the era, and given it hasn't seen a domestic release since the mid-80s, I'd argue that there is TREMENDOUS sales potential.
I think it would even justify the argument that just shipping the figure in its own assortment would be justified. Hasbro spent much of the post-2002 era refurbishing a LOT of those molds, even doing some outright remolding to repair or replace (Mike T's look at one of Firefly's MANY reuses highlighted this. I just can't remember which figure he did it on). Since 2010, Hasbro's been shifting a LOT of their production to other sources. As is, the big reason we're still getting Transformers reissues is because Takara is also involved. Even then, the recent Dino Cassettes were remade based off of knock offs due to their rarity. It was SHOCKING when Hasbro dug up the 1997 Terrorsaur mold in 2014 for a store exclusive. But GI Joe isn't as big a brand, so I don't hold it as gospel they still have access to what tooling they had left. The "reuse" angle isn't solid either as most of his V1 mold-mates aren't really top tier characters (aside from maybe Stalker). Also, Hawk is the most important character in the mythos. You can’t have G.I. Joe without the leader of the unit. |

Honestly, as impressive as the 6” figures are construction wise, I’m not sold on the aesthetic. I’d prefer a continuation of the 30th/POC/50th line design with new parts added to the library where needed.
