Truth. I don't even collect Star Wars anymore, but I've wanted to see them in person, and never have.

The Star Wars ones were all available on Dorkside too, so that’s another way to get them.

I think it might have to do with Joe being a riskier property. It's kind of a fine line between giving just enough to drum up excitement without boring people before they're even released. Either way, I actually like it, it makes the reveals we do get hit a little harder. In fact, I'd have been even more stoked to have just blindly found them on shelves as I did in 2000... of course, just like I did as a kid with Christmas presents, I can't resist taking a peek and spoiling the surprise when the info is here. |

If Hasbro is going with the Retro version of the Joe's, that woul imply reproduction of the 80s Joe's or new (models) figures reproducing the style of the 80s figures?
I wonder if they ever have in mind to do accurate cartoon characters like other companies like NECA and Super 7 been doing with TMNT, MOTU, THUNDERCATS, Etc...

If anyone just wants to *see* a retro Star War figure, there's a board game at Target that has a retro Tarkin packed in. They should be on the bottom shelf of your target's star wars section

I'd heard about that from one of the Youtube channels I watch. Seems like a pretty shitty way of selling a board game people might not otherwise want. Lends a lot of credit to the predatory nature of Retro lines that Axonrey mentioned earlier in this thread.

Allegedly, Hasbro was taking great care to preserve the o-ring molds they used 2000-2005. I think there were issues with factories and some molds going missing (Falcon, Cobra Infantry, etc). Still, there were many vintage molds that were seen during that time that were 100% complete. So IF Hasbro hasn't recycled the molds since then, they have...
Scarlett (swivel-arm) A "Classified" character Roadblock (84) A "Classified" character Firefly (84) Storm Shadow (84) Baroness Snow Job Zartan (84) Snake-Eyes (swivel-arm) was only missing the waist, which brings me to... Hasbro spent the money to recast the Short Fuse/Zap body in '04 and they still had the Grunt/Hawk/etc torso, so they would be only headscupts away from recreating about half of the '82 line. Hasbro could produce a lot of figures without investing much money at all IF they still had these molds. Though I expect some totally new molds even if they do, since we have not seen V1 Cobra Commander, Destro, or Major Bludd since the vintage line. And a lot of the surviving molds were woefully incomplete to the point they might as well redo them. If these in fact are o-ring figures and are essentially re-releases of the vintage era figures with the softer, more forgiving plastic of the 2000-2005 run I would be excited. I would hope that Hasbro learned from it's mistakes during that time and if the price is going to be between 10-12 dollars hopefully we will have better quality control. I would be happy with either 3 3/4" o-ring or 4" versions of the classic figures. But again I am not getting my hopes up until more details and photos come out. |
