Have to agree. It may be looking at o-ring figures through the rose colored glasses of childhood nostalgia but I’d take vintage o-ring over ME any day. Not to say I do not like the ME joes because they are great and I can still remember how cool I thought the 25th anniversary figs were - new build style but remained true to paying homage to the original figs. ME figs are great for display but not as good for playability and there was some accessory overload (I think the retro figs have done a good job scaling back some on accessories). O-ring figures offer both playability and display without the accessory overload with less attention to detail and a more limited articulation. Granted o-ring figures were built with kids in mind while the modern construction figs are targeted more towards adults collectors.

I cancelled my Grunt/Officer order since I found them at retail today. I like Grunt a lot, though mine seems to have trouble holding his rifle in his right hand though, and the plastic t-bar in the crotch feels less than study (hopefully it doesn't snap). I really want the rest of the Original 13, including a new V1 Snake-Eyes on the new Stalker body!

PSA- just opened my Grunt today. All joints were very much frozen. Slathered him in dishsoap getting it in the joints. They gave him a very warm bath. Rinse and Repeat. Then I could start gently unlocking all his joints safely. Now he works great, but the new Vietnam produced figures need TLC before they can be manipulated.
Consider yourself warned. |

I was supposed to get a cobra officer yesterday from walmart.com and it is now marked delayed. I am expecting two grunts today, but looking doubtful.

I scored an extra Grunt and an officer yesterday in-store. Let me know if you need them.
