The more complicated you make the packaging, the more expensive it is. It could affect the cost of the product which gets passed onto the customer. Also, it's more likely to be damaged or be defective. Some people already complain if packaging is bent, now add in the factor of whether the peel-away component is damaged. It's just not a feasible element and not worth the cost.
How Hasbro does business worldwide with its brands is not how they did business 40 years ago. Didn't they basically just license out their molds to other companies in different areas of the globe, and those companies rebranded the stuff with their own names? I don't believe Hasbro does that anymore. It's using one type of packaging worlwide and exporting it to different countries. So their packaging now keeps text to a minimum which allows it to work internationally. I grew up with RAH. The filecards and comic were a necessary way to introduce the characters to customers. It didn't hurt that one guy was writing both. The brand has changed, though. There isn't as much a need to introduce the character via the packaging. There's other media to do so. Everyone worldwide is online now. If you're trying to introduce customers to your characters, an online avenue seems the best way to do so. Also Hasbro shouldn't be worrying about whether its packaging will introduce people to its brand 30 years from now. That's kind of an absurd concern. Based on Hasbro's Star Wars and Marvel lines, it's likely there will be vintage packaged 6" Joes. Vintage-style cardbacks and deco for th figures. It's a way to get people to buy these figures yet again and help recoup their development costs. Regular Classified versions and vintage-carded versions allowing for double the sales. I think we may see vintage-carded 6" Joes as early as the second half of next year. |

(MAYBE EVEN 2022! ARAH anniversary, OMG!) Thanks for the feed back. Love it. Oh if CocaCola can make removable labels, I think Hasbro can figure it out... lol https://www.adweek.com/creativity/co...sic-festivals/ Last edited by CNR1993; 11-02-2020 at 02:46 AM.. |

So is it just me or does it seem that Target is no longer listing wave 2? They don't appear on the app and popfindr isn't pulling them up. The first wave of cobra island is still there even though almost every store around me lists them as unavailable.

I have stopped into the one and only Walgreens with in reasonable driving distance a few time over the last month or so. No GI Joes have been seen and as of last night there is still no price tag sticker for them. There is now a sticker for Hasbro Ghostbusters Plasma figs but no Joes.

Sometimes it's good to get to know the stock people in the store. Not anyone at cash. I found some stock people will set aside the more popular stuff to buy and resell themselves, or just to make sure they give them to people they think are real fans. It sucks but sometimes you have to play the game. I remember finding this out when star wars figures came out again in the 90s. I couldn't find leia for the life of me. (one per box). The stock kid had like 12 of them in the back. lol.
Oh monkey face leia. |

Give em a year. We'll see slightly different paint apps and an ARAH style card. Maybe some slight remolds to create ARAH inspired figures? We can dream anyway.

A Sunbow (or ARAH) Cobra Commander would just sell a lot better than a lot of C-listers.
