Surprised no one is talking about the article that Hasbro Pulse posted today on social media and their site? Here it is:

(Though, naturally, that kinda premise would need to be handled rather delicately in our current social climate.)

Unironically Target went out of business in Canada due in large part to it's inability to stock product.

I've never been in a target in the states, but the target stores that were in Canada were really bad (bad stock is right). Mind you, Canadian Tire stores were scared, and redid a lot of their stores and are better for it.

Could mean Raptor is inexplicably popular with the Classified creative team (and chances for a figure are greater than previously feared). Or could mean absolutely nothing.

Hama, the 80s toyline and Sunbow. That was the three headed trinity that created the peak of G.I. Joe.
Well, my thing with the retro line, the file cards (such as they are) are laughable and the lack of Real American Hero makes the packaging look bootleg. Both lazy, cheap and I'm sure woke sensibilities by people who are not as talented as those who came before them. My feeling is, whatever path you go, fine, but at least do it with care. Retro looks half baked. The packaging of Classified looks far better, but those power icons are pointless. I can remember things from the filecards from way back when; couldn't tell you want those icons are about nor do I care. As for G.I. Joe being international/global, Hasbro has been chasing that for quite awhile. The live action movies tried to play that game. |

What is up with the code names that have no relation to the characters? Is this to prevent leaks like this in case of changes in assortments?

They are not Emojis on the box they are icons. Hasbro has obviously chosen to do this as it makes the packaging universal for a global market. This has the benefit for Hasbro of not printing filecards in a hundred different languages and thus saving them a lot of money as Icons can they be read on the website in whatever language you want.
I know that the brand was originally aimed at the American market but I think people from all over the world can now get into Gi Joe so removing the nationalism and making it a Global task force. From a personal point of view I would like to see Gi Joe have more characters from different background and nationalities. This isn't the 1980s anymore and the brand needs to move forward. It's not like this line wasn't sold globally before. I guess Hasbro doesn't want to spend any money to make changes to its product for the international market. |
