Surprised no one is talking about the article that Hasbro Pulse posted today on social media and their site? Here it is:
https://hasbropulse.com/blogs/unboxe...nHc_wKqWxbceA8 There are two big admissions in this above article. They confirm for us now why we are getting figures with Nerf Guns and no file cards.

https://hasbropulse.com/blogs/unboxe...nhc_wkqwxbcea8 there are two big admissions in this above article. They confirm for us now why we are getting figures with nerf guns and no file cards. First off about the file cards. Last week i gave my friend's son a new classified duke figure. He didn't even notice the emojis on the side of the box. He looked at the box too and really didn't seem to care about what was on it at all. He ripped it open and got the figure out and played with it. Even took it to bed with him. The box, with its emojis, he threw away. I myself barely notice the emojis on the side of the boxes too. No one will be cutting these out and saving these like we all did with the file cards back in the day. I still have all my file cards too. The file cards brought our toys to life. It made them seem real. I still remember certain things from some of them too. Like steeler was from the same town i was. Or certain guy's real names or where they went to school. Those file cards really added to the toy. Four emojis that i am not even sure what they even mean add nothing. I think this is also a generational divide thing too. Hasbro now has younger people working on the brand trying to appeal to a new younger generation. Where apparently having to read too much is asking too much and cartoon symbols is more preferred. Sorry, but this is evidence of the dumbing down of the next generation. Emojis are one of the stupidest things out there and no one has anything serious, real, or to convey information when using emojis. No one will have these side panels with emojis on it 40 years from now like i, and many others, still have file cards. The second thing from this article that jumped out at me big time was this sentence: This is why we are getting nerf guns with beach head and the hasbro people laughably say "blaster" during their presentations. Also, having no file cards here too they don't have to write out all the u.s. Military stuff. It is hilarious, disturbing, and par for the course for 2020 that hasbro doesn't like the fact that their own american military based toy line is too american and too military. It must offend their globalist kumbaya ideals. They should just come up with a new toy line. But that would be too hard for these guys. Watch it will be a slippery slope like it is with all these folks. Today it is nerf guns and no file cards. Slowly down the road we will get an unrecognizable brand that no one will probably buy and they will cancel the line again. If g.i. Joe is too american and too militaristic then they better change the name. Government issue joe will always refer to the men and women of the united states armed forces. P.s. I look forward to the responses from those members who i've suspected for a while now are really hasbro employees. Actually i don't look forward to those responses. Spare me please. ..Annnnnnd

Changing a brand to make it more appealing to an entire world of consumers instead of a single nation seems to be a wise step for a global company.
Imagine a future where children and adults all of every nationality, of every culture, all around the world, can comfortably walk into their Target and see that all the goddamned Cobra Troopers are gone.

It’s not old news for Hasbro to acknowledge and put into print what others had observed. A Real American Hero indeed. Last edited by Dod Ear; 10-24-2020 at 10:29 AM.. |

They are not Emojis on the box they are icons. Hasbro has obviously chosen to do this as it makes the packaging universal for a global market. This has the benefit for Hasbro of not printing filecards in a hundred different languages and thus saving them a lot of money as Icons can they be read on the website in whatever language you want.
I know that the brand was originally aimed at the American market but I think people from all over the world can now get into Gi Joe so removing the nationalism and making it a Global task force. From a personal point of view I would like to see Gi Joe have more characters from different background and nationalities. This isn't the 1980s anymore and the brand needs to move forward. |

...and has this guy really forgotten about Adventure Team, which also moved away from war/military? Brands pivot all the time. C’mon, who cares. Waaay over-stated to match the actual product. I think the figures are great for those who dig 6” (I don’t, personally). Don’t like it, don’t buy it—no need for salty, boring diatribes. Oh yeah...don’t like it, scroll on. My bad! smdh.

I have realized that we have lived through the 'peak' of America. We grew up at the pinnacle of American uniqueness, ingenuity, ambition, and creativity. This new era of one-world homogenization is just dull. Look at Disney for example. There is no question that Star Wars was much more successful, artistically, before Disney took over and tried to make it a global brand. Why does everything HAVE to be a global brand? A bit part of what makes the world so interesting and fun is that its DIFFERENT from place to place. I think back to when I was a kid - we would go from Ohio to Florida, and it would be 'different' - and that's part of what was fun about it. We had KMart, Childrens Palace, Gold Circle and Hills - they had Toys R Us, Walmart, etc. Now, I can go to Australia - and still walk into a Target that is virtually the same as what I have down the road here in America. ...and they still won't have Cobra Island figures.
